Sáng 27/3, cảnh sát bang Virginia, miền Đông nước Mỹ, cho biết các vụ xả súng đă xảy ra tại vùng duyên hải Virginia Beach của bang này khiến 2 người thiệt mạng và ít nhất 8 người bị thương. Phát biểu với các phóng viên, cảnh sát trưởng vùng Virginia Beach, Paul Neudigate, cho biết lúc đầu có 8 người bị bắn vào lúc 23h theo giờ địa phương, tức 11h ngày 27/3 theo giờ Việt Nam. Trong lúc cảnh sát đang tiến hành điều tra vụ việc này th́ một người khác đă bị cảnh sát bắn chết trong cuộc đọ súng ở gần đó. Một người nữa cũng được phát hiện tử vong gần hiện trường trong một vụ "nổ súng riêng rẽ" và đang được cảnh sát điều tra.
Trước đó, ngày 23/3, tại bang Colorado của Mỹ cũng đă xảy ra một vụ xả súng kinh hoàng tại một siêu thị ở thành phố Boulder của bang này, làm 10 người thiệt mạng, trong đó có 1 cảnh sát. Đối tượng t́nh nghi là Ahmad Alissa, 21 tuổi, bị cáo buộc 10 tội danh giết người cấp độ 1 và sẽ được giam giữ tại nhà tù hạt Boulder.
