Đại sứ quán Mỹ tại Hà Nội chúc mừng Việt Nam nhận lô vaccine Covid-19 đầu tiên được tài trợ từ chương tŕnh COVAX, với 811.200 liều của AstraZeneca.
Trong thông cáo ngày 1/4, Đại sứ Mỹ tại Việt Nam Daniel Kritenbrink nói ông "vui mừng khi chứng kiến sự hỗ trợ từ chương tŕnh COVAX dành cho Việt Nam”.
Đại sứ Kritenbrink đánh giá cao việc Việt Nam kiểm soát dịch Covid-19, cũng như quan hệ hợp tác giữa hai nước trong lĩnh vực y tế, pḥng ngừa dịch bệnh.
Ông tiếp tục ấn tượng với sự lănh đạo chủ động của Chính phủ Việt Nam trong kiểm soát đại dịch.
"Chúng tôi tự hào về quan hệ đối tác và lịch sử hợp tác lâu dài giữa hai nước chúng ta trong lĩnh vực y tế nhằm pḥng ngừa, phát hiện và ứng phó trước những mối đe dọa bệnh truyền nhiễm nghiêm trọng", Đại sứ Kritenbrink nói.
COVAX là cơ chế toàn cầu nhằm đảm bảo quyền tiếp cận công bằng với vaccine Covid-19.Mỹ mới đây công bố cam kết cung cấp khoản ngân sách ban đầu trị giá 2 tỷ USD, trong tổng ngân sách dự kiến là 4 tỷ USD, để hỗ trợ sáng kiến này.
Qua đó, Mỹ trở thành quốc gia đóng góp lớn nhất cho cơ chế tiếp cận vaccine Covid-19 toàn cầu, theo thông cáo của Đại sứ quán Mỹ.
