Bà Narmadaben, d́ của Thủ tướng Narendra Modi, đă qua đời tại bệnh viện vào ngày 27/4 v́ không thể chống chọi với Covid-19.
Bà Narmadaben Modi được điều trị Covid-19 tại một bệnh viện ở Ahmedabad trước khi qua đời ở tuổi 80. Trước đó, bà Narmadaben sống cùng các con ở khu New Ranip, theo India Today.
Prahlad Modi, em trai của Thủ tướng Modi, cho biết vào ngày 27/4: "D́ của chúng tôi, Narmadaben, đă được đưa vào bệnh viện dân sự cách đây 10 ngày, sau khi t́nh trạng của bà xấu đi v́ nhiễm virus. Bà đă trút hơi thở cuối cùng tại bệnh viện hôm nay".Chồng bà Narmadaben, ông Jagjivandas, anh trai của cha thủ tướng, đă qua đời nhiều năm trước, ông Prahlad Modi nói.
Nghị sĩ Jyotiraditya Scindia của đảng Bharatiya Janata cũng đă gửi lời chia buồn đến gia đ́nh thủ tướng trên Twitter.
Ông nói: "Tôi xin gửi lời chia buồn sâu sắc nhất về sự ra đi của bà Narmadaben Modi, d́ của ông Narendra Modi. Xin chúa ban b́nh an cho linh hồn đă khuất của bà và tiếp thêm sức mạnh cho tang quyến để họ vượt qua nỗi đau này”.
Bà Narmadaben là một trong số 2.771 người chết v́ Covid-19 mà Ấn Độ ghi nhận vào ngày 27/4. Trong ngày này, đất nước báo cáo thêm 323.144 ca mắc Covid-19 mới, nâng tổng số ca nhiễm của nước này lên 17,6 triệu, chỉ sau Mỹ. Các chuyên gia cho rằng con số này vẫn chưa phản ánh đúng thực trạng dịch bệnh ở Ấn Độ.
