Chuyên gia y tế cảnh báo Philippines có thể phải đối mặt với đợt bùng phát Covid-19 tương tự ở Ấn Độ trong tháng này, do đó không được nới lỏng quy định kiểm dịch.
Bác sĩ Rodrigo Ong, thuộc viện nghiên cứu độc lập OCTA, cho rằng Philippines đang ghi nhận khoảng 10.000 ca mắc Covid-19 mới mỗi ngày, tương tự ở Ấn Độ trước đây.
Khi đó, các nhà chức trách Ấn Độ quyết định dỡ bỏ các quy định cấm tụ tập đông người, vì cho rằng virus đã được kiểm soát, theo South China Morning Post.Ông Ong cho biết tính đến ngày 27/4, tình hình dịch Covid-19 ở Philippines đang ở trong trạng thái "cân bằng mong manh", khi 80% số giường bệnh trên cả nước đã được sử dụng.
"Đến cuối tháng 4, khi các biện pháp chống dịch được nới lỏng hơn, trạng thái cân bằng mong manh này có thể biến mất, khiến hệ thống y tế quá tải", bác sĩ Ong nhận định.
Theo số liệu của Bộ Y tế Philippines, nước này ghi nhận 7.204 trường hợp mắc Covid-19 mới hôm 27/4, giảm so với mức 15.310 ca bệnh trong ngày 2/4.
Tuy nhiên, viện nghiên cứu OCTA kêu gọi chính phủ vẫn nên duy trì các quy định ngăn chặn dịch bệnh để tỷ lệ ca mắc mới trong ngày giảm hơn nữa, tránh gây áp lực cho hệ thống y tế và các y bác sĩ.
