Báo The Hindu dẫn thông tin từ Bộ Môi trường Ấn Độ ngày 4/5 cho hay, 8 con sư tử châu Á tại Công viên động vật Nehru (NZP) ở Hyderabad, Ấn Độ đă có kết quả xét nghiệm dương tính với SARS-CoV-2. Những con sư tử này bắt đầu có các triệu chứng mắc Covid-19 từ ngày 24/4, một đại diện của sở thú cho biết.
"Những con sư tử này được xét nghiệm sau khi có các triệu chứng nhẹ của mắc Covid-19. Hiện tại, chúng vẫn khỏe mạnh và hoạt bát", quan chức này cho biết và nói thêm rằng trong 8 sư tử nhiễm Covid-19 có 4 con đực và 4 con cái.
Giới chức y tế cho rằng, những con sư tử này có thể đă lây Covid-19 từ người quản lư chúng. Đại diện Bộ Môi trường Ấn Độ nói rằng, đàn sư tử mắc Covid-19 nhưng không phải biến chủng đáng lo ngại.
"Hiện 8 con sư tử đă được cách ly và chăm sóc, điều trị y tế. Tất cả đều đáp ứng tốt với quy tŕnh điều trị, phục hồi. Chúng vẫn hoạt động b́nh thường và ăn uống tốt", thông cáo của Bộ Môi trường Ấn Độ cho biết.
