Đài Fox News ngày 31.7 đưa tin “sát thủ mèo Brighton” vừa bị tuyên án 5 năm tù vì giết chết 9 con mèo trong hàng loạt vụ án bí ẩn từng khiến cộng đồng Brighton (Đông Sussex, Anh) xôn xao.
Cơ quan chức năng cho biết bị cáo Steve Bouquet (54 tuổi) đã tấn công 16 con mèo từ tháng 10.2018-5.2019 và giết chết 9 con. Đối tượng này chỉ dừng lại sao khi bị một người lắp camera an ninh để theo dõi và bắt quả tang.
Cảnh sát sau đó phát hiện hình ảnh 2 chú mèo chết trong điện thoại của nghi phạm và ADN của mèo trên dao trong nhà.
Tháng trước, tòa án đã kết tội dù bị cáo bác bỏ các cáo buộc và cho rằng ông “không phải là mối đe dọa đối với động vật”.
Tại phiên tòa ngày 30.7, thẩm phán Jeremy Gold mô tả hành vi của ông Bouquet là “dã man” trong chuỗi gây án liên tiếp. Tuy nhiên, cảnh sát và giới công tố đều không xác định được động cơ của thủ phạm khi tấn công nhiều con mèo.

Authorities said defendant Steve Bouquet (54 years old) attacked 16 cats from October 2018 to May 5, 2019 and killed 9 cats. This object only stopped when a person installed a security camera to monitor and caught it.
Police later discovered images of two dead cats in the suspect's phone and the cat's DNA on a knife in the house.
Last month, the court convicted him, although the defendant denied the charges and said he was "not a threat to animals".
At the trial on July 30, Judge Jeremy Gold described Mr Bouquet's behavior as "barbaric" in a series of consecutive crimes. However, neither police nor prosecutors were able to identify the perpetrator's motive for attacking many cats.
