CONGRESS COUNTS ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES, Jan 6, 2021, DC The House and Senate will meet in Joint Session on January 6, 2021 to count the votes of the Electoral College, the final step in the U.S. presidential election contest. The members of the Electoral College, chosen by voters on November 3, 2020, cast their votes on December 14, 2020. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris received 306 votes and Donald Trump and Mike Pence received 232 votes. Although that would seem to be a definitive victory for Biden-Harris, President Trump refuses to concede and some members of Congress continue to dispute the vote and could challenge it on January 6. The Congressional Research Service has a useful report on this part of the election process. As of December 19, 2020, the Cook Political Report showed that Biden also won the popular vote 81.2 million to 74.2 million. https://i.ibb.co/wz6NrY3/Popular-Vot...cal-Report.png |
