Cảnh sát Mỹ bị sát hại ngay ngoài Lầu Năm Góc
 

Cơ quan Lực lượng bảo vệ Lầu Năm Góc thông báo vụ tấn công xảy ra tại một trạm xe buýt công cộng bên ngoài trụ sở Bộ Quốc phòng Mỹ ở thành phố Arlington, bang Virginia ngày 3.8.
Lãnh đạo cơ quan nói trên, ông Woodrow Kusse cho biết một cảnh sát thiệt mạng và nhiều người bị thương. Cảnh sát hiện không truy tìm nghi phạm nào và thông báo không còn mối đe dọa cho cộng đồng. Cục Điều tra liên bang (FBI) đang hỗ trợ điều tra.
NBC News dẫn nguồn tin tiết lộ nạn nhân đã bị đâm nhiều nhát vào cổ. Kẻ tấn công bị cảnh sát bắn chết.

Vụ việc khiến các quan chức trong Lầu Năm Góc phải tìm nơi trú ẩn và tòa nhà bị phong tỏa trong hơn 1 giờ. Bộ trưởng Quốc phòng Lloyd Austin và Chủ tịch Hội đồng tham mưu trưởng liên quân Mark Milley thời điểm đó đang ở Nhà Trắng để gặp Tổng thống Joe Biden.
Bộ trưởng Austin ca ngợi những đóng góp, hy sinh của cảnh sát thiệt mạng và tuyên bố sẽ ủng hộ cuộc điều tra. Lần gần nhất một sự cố an ninh xảy ra gần Lầu Năm Góc là vào tháng 3.2010, khi một tay súng bắn bị thương 2 cảnh sát nhưng sau đó bị tiêu diệt.


The attack took place at a public bus stop outside the US Department of Defense headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, on August 3, the Pentagon's National Guard said.
The agency's leader, Mr. Woodrow Kusse, said one policeman was killed and many people were injured. Police are currently not looking for any suspects and say there is no longer a threat to the community. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is assisting with the investigation.
NBC News quoted a source as saying that the victim had been stabbed several times in the neck. The attacker was shot dead by the police.

The incident prompted Pentagon officials to seek shelter and the building was sealed off for more than an hour. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley were at the White House at the time to meet President Joe Biden.
Minister Austin praised the contributions and sacrifices of the police killed and vowed to support the investigation. The last time a security incident occurred near the Pentagon was in March 2010, when a gunman shot and wounded two policemen but was later killed.
