Yesterday I went to my niece's TrucHa Truong and Kit Cat's house warming. I am reminded of a phone call that woke me up in the middle of the night about five years ago. My poor niece was out on the street, distraught from a broken relationship. I told her to head over my place as shelter for the night and she ended up staying with me until she got her life together. My niece has always been a carer, a giver to everyone around her (not to mention a great cook and... boy... was I sad to see her go). We never delved much into her past relationship because every relationship is unique and very hard for a third person to give any kind of unbias opinion. However, I did tell her to be strong and have faith. Things always happen for the best even though it might seem bad right now.

I assured her that she will find someone to love because she is a "giver." Between being a "giver" and a "taker", it's much easier for a giver to find someone to give to then a taker to find someone to take from. Quite a thought-twister huh? Ok, so let me give an example. If you have a million dollars to give to someone but they don't want it, it would be very easy for you to find someone else to give it to, much easier then, if you are a taker, out to get a million from someone... right? Same is true of love. If your are full of love to give, you will find someone to accept and appreciate that precious gift. But if you are always looking to take from someone, demanding that the person give you love, give you attention, give you this, give you that... it's very hard for you to find true happiest because sooner or later people can see right through you (well...at least the smart ones can). Love is a reciprocal deal not a one way street baby!

Five years after "that faithful night", as the saying goes, my niece has pulled her life together. Got a promotion at her job. Bought her mom a nice condo. Found her soul-mate (ahem...a doctor with two specialty degrees), got their first million dollar home together and heading to Hawaii for their mid-year get away. If it sounds like I'm showing off...I AM...because I'm so proud of woman she has become!! And the last "cherry on the top" is her house is only 5 minutes from mine, with 5 bedrooms and only 2 people living there, I know I will always have a shelter should I ever need one! Ahhhh...what goes around come around! You give love, you get love!!
