I am a resident of Texas for over 40 years. There is no clause in the law and constitution to allow any states to secede from the union especially after the south surrendered to the union when they lost the civil war. What Texas could do, however, is divide itself into as many as five states, a privilege given to it as a unique condition of its annexation to the Union in 1845. That's it folk.
