Default Arizona man wanted for threatening to kill Trump

An Arizona man, Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66, is currently wanted by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office after allegedly making threats on social media to kill former President Donald Trump. Trump, who is the Republican nominee for the upcoming presidential election, was visiting Cochise County as part of his campaign, specifically to tour the U.S.-Mexico border.

When asked about the threat, Trump stated that he had not been informed but was not particularly surprised, suggesting that such threats are to be expected due to his plans to take strong actions against criminals. The Cochise County Sheriff's Office also noted that Syvrud has multiple outstanding warrants in Wisconsin.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of threats directed at political figures in the lead-up to the November 5th general election. Earlier in August, a Virginia man was charged with making threats against Vice President Kamala Harris, who is Trump's Democratic rival. Additionally, a New Hampshire man was arrested in December for threatening to kill Republican presidential candidates.

This is not the first time Trump has been targeted. In July, he was involved in an assassination attempt where he was shot in the ear. The incident also left two others injured and resulted in the death of one person. The U.S. Secret Service faced widespread criticism following the attack, which led to the resignation of the agency's director. Despite the previous attack and the recent threats, Trump expressed his "great respect" for the Secret Service and the work they do, while acknowledging that they have made mistakes from which they can learn.
