Ivanka Trump ordered to testify in father's fraud trial

Judge Arthur Engoron dismissed an attempt by Donald Trump's legal team to block a subpoena issued to Ivanka Trump by Attorney General Letitia James. Still, he granted her until November 1 to appeal this decision.
Ivanka Trump served as a senior advisor to her father, who is currently the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. She played this role while he was in the White House but has maintained a low profile since his departure from office.
She resigned from her positions at the Trump Organization in January 2017, when her father assumed the presidency. Both she and her husband, Jared Kushner, took up roles in his administration. Before her government service, Ivanka Trump held the position of executive vice president in the Trump Organization. Notably, she had close dealings with one of the group's major lenders, Deutsche Bank, according to the attorney general's office.
The 77-year-old Donald Trump and his sons are also expected to testify during the trial, which is taking place in Manhattan. While the former president is not facing the possibility of imprisonment, Attorney General Letitia James is seeking $250 million in penalties and the removal of Trump and his sons from their roles in managing the family's real estate empire.
Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the trial, characterizing it as a Democratic-led effort to obstruct his potential 2024 White House bid.
