Default Another Hanoi hospital records coronavirus infection

The Hanoi Centre for Diseases Control (CDC) announced on May 12 a cleaner of Hanoi-run Thanh Nhan hospital has tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Thanh Nhan hospital mainly receives and treats patients from Hanoi and neighbouring localities
The female patient works in an area where a group of COVID-19 patients transferred from K cancer hospital are under treatment, said Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi CDC.

She did not get infection from the hospital, Tuan added.

The news was also confirmed by Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, deputy director of the hospital, who said the cleaner works in a restricted area, therefore posing no risk to the hospital’s operations.

The hospital has yet to lock down or set up health isolation areas at any department, stressed Huong.

According to the Hanoi Department of Health, the female patient, born in 1965, has mainly worked and lived on the ninth floor of the hospital since February 2021.

Thanh Nhan hospital recently received 11 COVID-19 patients transferred from K cancer hospital No2, a coronavirus hospital in Hanoi, for treatment.

These patients were arranged to stay on the restricted ninth floor where the cleaner works.

Following the positive test results, the female cleaner was transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No2 for medical surveillance and treatment.

Both National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No2 and K Cancer Hospital No2 are the two coronavirus hotspots in Hanoi. They are centrally-run medical centres that receive and treat patients from various cities and provinces, mostly in the northern and central regions.
