Default Vietnamese Buddhists in Korea encourage Covid-19 prevention forces at southwest border

The President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Central Committee, Do Van Chien, received a delegation of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Korea in support of pandemic prevention forces at the southwest border

A Vietnamese Buddhist group met to offer support for Vietnam's officers working on the front line to protect the country from the coronavirus, on April 28.

At the meeting, Venerable Thich Nu Gioi Tanh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Korea, said that after witnessing the hardships suffered by border guard forces, the association wished to join hands with the Party, State, and the Fatherland Front to overcome difficulties posed by the pandemic. The delegation has accordingly donated 10,000 masks and 200 food packages to anti-pandemic officers at Vietnam's southwest border.

Reporting to Do Van Chien on the recent activities of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Korea, Venerable Thich Nu Gioi Tanh said that despite being heavily affected by the pandemic, the association maintained religious activities through online forms. The association is a bridge to tighten the friendship and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea.

The association and related Buddhists have held many charity activities to help Vietnamese people in Korea overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Responding to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee's call for "Every person to participate in supporting the prevention and fighting against Covid-19," the association has organized delegations to visit and give gifts to isolated areas in Vietnam with the total value of 4 billion VND (173,900 U.S.dollars). It has also asked the community to join hands to support people in the central provinces experiencing natural disasters, storms, and floods with a total of over 180 million VND.

At the meeting, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Do Van Chien, said he acknowledged and appreciated the positive contributions made by the Vietnam Buddhist Association in Korea. He added that the association had always trying to help overseas Vietnamese, as well as making precious and practical contributions, both physically and mentally.

Although living abroad during the pandemic is very stressful, overseas Vietnamese people have united to organize pandemic prevention and supported local authorities with practical and humanitarian activities, from meals for doctors, and self-made masks through to medical equipment and financial aid

Chien said he hoped that the spirit of enhancing solidarity between Vietnamese in Korea in particular and overseas Vietnamese in general would continue, and that both sides would overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic, support each other to develop the economy, stabilize production, and carry out duties in a spirit of affection and responsibility.
