Default Don't forget your roots, be proud to be Vietnamese

The "flatter" the world is, the more people want to find unique values and value their own identity. A Vietnamese intellectual who has lived abroad for many years once shared, "If I don't keep my Vietnamese identity, I'll just be a zero when I go out into the world."

The Global Vietnamese Fatherland Day project, initiated by Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Yen, an overseas Vietnamese in Austria, is a significant effort in the mission of preserving and honoring Vietnamese values. The project aims to instill a sense of pride in every Vietnamese individual, regardless of their location around the world.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Yen reflects on her journey founding and leading the Global Vietnamese Fatherland Day project. Initially met with skepticism and resistance, the project has grown over nine years to connect Vietnamese communities across the globe. Dr. Yen emphasizes the significance of organizing events directly in addition to online activities, fostering a deep sense of gratitude, cultural exchange, and national pride. The project operates with "three virtues" – gratitude to ancestors, the mission of spreading Vietnamese culture, and self-respect and national pride.

Despite resource constraints, the initiative has successfully organized events in various countries, contributing to a stronger sense of connection among overseas Vietnamese and international friends. Dr. Yen expresses her pride in the project's achievements and its ongoing impact on preserving and promoting Vietnamese values globally.
