Năm 1984, ông sáng lập Công ty Metran, giữ chức vụ tổng giám đốc và sau này là chủ tịch. Tháng 7/2012, Nhật hoàng Akihito đă ghé thăm Công ty Metran. Năm 2016, "Xưởng Đẻ Từ Dũ" là đơn vị đầu tiên tại Việt Nam sử dụng máy thở Hummingbird do công ty của ông tài trợ.
