A museum has removed a wax statue of Trump because people kept punching it

A waxwork museum removed a statue of former President Donald Trump because people kept on attacking it, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

Visitors to Louis Tussaud's Waxworks Museum in San Antonio, Texas, reportedly punched and scratched the figure so many times that the museum's curators decided to remove it from public view.

Clay Stewart, regional manager for Ripley Entertainment, told the outlet: "When it's a highly political figure, attacks can be a problem," adding that visitors' attacks on Trump increased last summer as the 2020 presidential campaign gathered pace.

The museum's Instagram page showed that Trump's likeness had been displayed between wax statues of Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-Un.

Stewart said the museum is unlikely to put back the display of Trump until the museum has taken delivery of a waxwork of Biden which is currently under construction.

He said statues of other former presidents, including George W. Bush and Barack Obama, had also been vandalized in the past.

President Trump's approval ratings plummeted after the Capitol riot in January, according to a Pew Research Center survey carried out between January 8 and January 12, which indicated he left office with the lowest approval rating of his presidency.

The survey found that a total of 68% of Americans said they didn't want Trump to remain a major political figure after he left the White House.

Other waxwork figures of Trump have faced an even more unfortunate fate in recent years. Berlin's Madame Tussaud's museum in October last year placed a waxwork of the former president in the bin before the presidential election took place.

The trash bin was labeled with text reading "Dump Trump Make America Great Again" and it also contained signs of the president's favored phrases, including "Fake News" and "You Are Fired."

The museum's marketing manager Orikde Yalcindag said that the dumpster reflected their predictions for the outcome of the US election, which Trump lost.

"We here at Madame Tussauds Berlin removed Donald Trump's waxwork as a preparatory measure," Yalcindag said.
