Với kỳ nghỉ lễ Tạ ơn, sở thích chơi gôn của Tổng thống Donald Trump, hiện đă tiêu tốn của người Mỹ khoảng 115 triệu USD liên quan đến chi phí đi lại và an ninh. Con số này tương đương 287 năm tiền lương của Tổng thống mà ông thường tự hào do không nhận, theo Huffington Post.

Trong các khoản chi cho sở thích chơi golf của Tổng thống, hàng trăm ngh́n - hoặc hàng triệu USD có thể đă vào túi tiền của chính ông, khi các nhân viên Mật vụ, nhân viên Nhà Trắng và các quan chức hành chính khác lưu trú tại khách sạn và sân golf của gia đ́nh ông.

Trả lời câu hỏi của HuffPost hôm thứ Tư (27/11), về việc có biết bao nhiêu quan chức chính quyền đang ở tại khu nghỉ mát Mar-a-Lago của ông Trump ở Palm Beach, Florida, trong dịp Lễ Tạ ơn và chi phí bao nhiêu, Thư kư báo chí Nhà Trắng Stephanie Grisham chỉ nói: "Không".

Các vụ kiện do các tổ chức tin tức và các nhóm giám sát các cơ quan hành pháp (Nhà Trắng được miễn truy vấn khỏi Đạo luật Thông tin Tự do) dẫn đầu - tiết lộ các khoản thanh toán tổng cộng hàng trăm ngh́n USD, được cho là vi phạm điều khoản về việc cấm ông Trump chấp nhận những lợi ích vượt quá mức lương của ông từ liên bang hoặc bất kỳ chính phủ tiểu bang nào.

Jordan Libowitz thuộc nhóm Công dân Trách nhiệm và Đạo đức ở Washington cho rằng ông Trump sử dụng chức vụ tổng thống của ḿnh như một cách để bỏ tiền vào túi.

Tổng thống Trump, giống như nhiều người đảng Cộng ḥa, nhiều lần chỉ trích cựu Tổng thống Barack Obama khi đó chơi golf thường xuyên trong những năm cầm quyền. "Tôi chơi golf để thư giăn. Công ty của tôi trong t́nh trạng tuyệt vời. @barackObama chơi golf để thoát khỏi công việc trong khi nước Mỹ đi xuống", ông Trump tweet vào tháng 12/2011.

Trong chiến dịch tranh cử, ông Trump tuyên bố rằng với tư cách là tổng thống, ông sẽ quá bận rộn để có thời gian cho bất kỳ kỳ nghỉ nào. Dù vậy, ông vẫn có lịch tŕnh dành nhiều thời gian hơn cho sân golf so với ông Obama.

Một báo cáo của Văn pḥng Trách nhiệm Chính phủ hồi đầu năm nay cho thấy mỗi chuyến đi Mar-a-Lago tiêu tốn của người nộp thuế khoảng 3,4 triệu USD. HuffPost ước tính chi phí cho các chuyến đi chơi golf ngoài khu vực Washington vào tháng 5 và thấy rằng tổng số tiền đă vượt qua 100 triệu USD.
