Với số ca nhiễm chiếm gần 1/3 tổng số ca toàn nước Mỹ, New York đă dừng mọi hoạt động, yêu cầu người dân ở nhà. Nhưng t́nh h́nh không khả quan hơn, khiến Thị trưởng Bill de Blasio của New York, Mỹ, đổ lỗi cho Tổng thống Donald Trump đă không làm ǵ để giúp đỡ thành phố đối phó với số ca nhiễm ngày một tăng mạnh.

"Tổng thống Mỹ Donald Trump xuất thân từ thành phố New York và ông ấy không động ngón tay để giúp đỡ quê nhà. Tôi thật không hiểu nổi" - tờ Fox News dẫn lời ông de Blasio nói.

Với số ca nhiễm chiếm gần 1/3 tổng số ca toàn nước Mỹ, New York đă dừng mọi hoạt động, yêu cầu người dân ở nhà. Nhưng t́nh h́nh không khả quan hơn.

"Sự thật là t́nh h́nh chỉ có tệ hơn mà thôi" - thị trưởng New York cảnh báo.

"Nếu tổng thống Mỹ không hành động, người dân sẽ chết" - ông nói.

Ông de Blasio gợi ư Mỹ triển khai quân y hỗ trợ chống dịch tại những vùng đang gặp khủng hoảng. Ông cho biết quân đội có "tổ chức hậu cần tốt nhất nước" đang đứng bên lề cuộc chiến chống COVID-19.

Mô tả t́nh h́nh tại New York, ông de Blasio nói rằng các bệnh viện tại thành phố đang thiếu thiết bị y tế thiết yếu.

"Trong 10 ngày tới chúng tôi sẽ thiếu hụt trên diện rộng máy thở, khẩu trang y tế và những thứ cần thiết để giữ bệnh viện hoạt động. Nếu không có thêm máy thở trong 10 ngày tới, người dân sẽ chết" - ông nói.

Lănh đạo tại nhiều bang của Mỹ cũng đang than thở việc thiếu thiết bị y tế để đối phó với COVID-19. Thống đốc bang Illinois, ông J.B. Pritzker, thậm chí cho biết các bang đang cạnh tranh lẫn nhau để nhận được những thiết bị này.

Trong khi đó, Thống đốc bang New York Andrew Cuomo nói: "Theo cách nào đó, chúng ta đang cắn xé các bang khác. Tôi cố mua khẩu trang và tôi phải cạnh tranh với California, Illinois, Florida. Không nên như vậy. Việc chặt chém là một vấn đề lớn và nó chỉ nghiêm trọng hơn mà thôi".
