Peter Svarzbein, nghị viên thành phố El Paso (Texas), cho biết Trump c̣n nợ thành phố này hơn nửa triệu đô, mà đ̣i hoài chưa thấy trả. Khi TT Trump tổ chức buổi vận động MAGA ở El Paso hồi tháng 2/2019, thành phố phía Tây Texas này tốn hơn nửa triệu đôla, chính xác là $569,204.63.

Gần 2 năm sau, đài KTSM-TV nói rằng các quan chức thành phố đă đ̣i Trump trả nợ, nhưng không thấy tăm hơi ǵ, trong khi, theo nghị viên Peter Svarzbein, cư dân El Paso vất vả v́ ngân sách co cụm trong mùa đại dịch.

Phải chăng Trump không muốn trả, hay cố ư trả chậm, chỉ v́ nơi này nghiêng về Dân Chủ? Không nghe Trump giải thích v́ sao chưa trả nợ, mặc dù biết nơi này không giàu có ǵ. Thành phố El Paso thiên về Dân Chủ nằm trong tiểu bang Texas là tràn ngập Cộng Ḥa. Bầu cử 3/11/2020 vừa qua cho thấy chỉ có 6% phiếu cử tri El Paso bầu cho Trump.

Khi Trump chọn El Paso để tổ chức tập họp và vận động hồi tháng 2/2019, và chuyến thăm của Trump và sự kiện vận động gây ra tốn kém cho thành phố là tổng cộng $569,204.63. Mới tuần này, Hội Đồng Thành Phố El Paso City, bao gồm cả nghị viên Svarzbein, thống nhất thuê một luật sư ngoài -- đó là luật sư Snapper L. Carr -- trong nỗ lực đ̣i tiền từ ban vận động của Trump.
