Quan chức Mỹ không xác nhận lời Trump về phút cuối của Baghdadi. Tổng thống Trump không hiểu lấy tin tức từ đâu. Các quan chức quốc pḥng cũng không hiểu nguồn cơ thông tin trùm IS "thút thít trước khi chết".

"Tôi biết Tổng thống có kế hoạch nói chuyện với các thành viên của đội đặc nhiệm, nhưng tôi không rơ thông tin đó ở đâu ra. Tôi đưa ra giả thuyết rằng Tổng thống có thông tin đó sau cuộc tṛ chuyện trực tiếp với đội đặc nhiệm", Chủ tịch Hội đồng Tham mưu trưởng Liên quân Mỹ Mark Milley cho biết ngày 28/10.

Milley đưa ra tuyên bố sau khi được các phóng viên đề nghị làm rơ lời kể của Tổng thống Donald Trump về phút cuối của thủ lĩnh tối cao phiến quân Nhà nước Hồi giáo (IS) tự xưng Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Trong cuộc họp báo một ngày trước, Trump mô tả Baghdadi như một kẻ hèn nhát "thút thít và kêu khóc" trước khi kích nổ đai bom tự sát để "chết như một con chó". Ông c̣n nói rằng thủ lĩnh tối cao IS trải qua giây phút cuối cùng của cuộc đời "trong nỗi sợ hăi tột cùng, trong hoảng loạn và sợ sệt trước lực lượng Mỹ đang săn đuổi".

Dù vậy, tướng Milley từ chối xác nhận rằng cuộc tṛ chuyện giữa Trump và các thành viên đội đặc nhiệm Delta tham gia chiến dịch diệt Baghdadi đă thực sự diễn ra.

Bộ trưởng Quốc pḥng Mỹ Mark Esper cũng công khai nói rằng ông không chắc Tổng thống Trump đă lấy thông tin từ đâu về những ǵ Baghdadi đă làm trước khi chết trong đường hầm. "Tôi không biết những chi tiết đó. Tổng thống có thể đă nói chuyện với một số chỉ huy tham gia chiến dịch", Esper nói trong cuộc phỏng vấn với ABC ngày 27/10.

Phát ngôn viên Nhà Trắng Hogan Gidley né tránh trả lời trực tiếp câu hỏi của phóng viên về việc Tổng thống Trump làm thế nào biết được cảm xúc của Baghdadi trong những phút cuối cùng. "Tôi sẽ không bàn về các chi tiết kỹ thuật về những ǵ chúng tôi đă làm trong thời khắc đó", Gidley nói.

Tuy nhiên, Gidley nhắc lại rằng Baghdadi "là một trong những kẻ xấu xa nhất thế giới và hắn ta chết như Tổng thống mô tả - khóc lóc, thút thít và cố chạy trốn số phận cuối cùng của ḿnh".

Một quan chức tham gia biên soạn bài phát biểu cho Trump nói phiên bản Tổng thống Mỹ đọc hôm 27/10 không giống những ǵ họ chắp bút. Một nguồn tin cho biết Trump yêu cầu một bài phát biểu mang tính cứng rắn hơn. Trump cùng cố vấn Stephen Miller, người có vai tṛ chính trong việc soạn bài phát biểu, điều chỉnh bản thảo vào phút chót khiến Tổng thống Mỹ bị muộn họp báo.

Khi Trump đọc đến đoạn Baghdadi "thút thít", một số quan chức chính quyền nghĩ rằng ông đă tṛ chuyện với các đặc nhiệm tham gia cuộc đột kích. Tuy nhiên, Nhà Trắng đến nay chưa xác nhận điều này.

Một quan chức quốc pḥng giấu tên cho rằng Trump khó có thể nghe được giọng nói của Baghdadi trong đường hầm khi theo dơi cuộc đột kích từ Pḥng T́nh huống tại Nhà Trắng, trừ phi đặc nhiệm Mỹ đă có một số biện pháp sắp xếp đặc biệt nào đó.

Các chuyên gia cho rằng cuộc đột kích diệt thủ lĩnh IS vẫn là một thành công lớn "ngay cả khi Trump tô vẽ một số chi tiết trong bài phát biểu trên truyền h́nh". Bộ trưởng Esper nói cái chết của Baghdadi là đ̣n chí mạng giáng vào tổ chức IS, bởi "Baghdadi lănh đạo, nhà sáng lập và kẻ truyền cảm hứng theo nhiều cách". Esper cho biết chưa đến 100 binh sĩ tham gia chiến dịch và đây là hoạt động lớn liên quan nhiều đến cộng đồng t́nh báo.

Baghdadi đă kích nổ đai bom tự sát cùng hai người vợ khi thất thế trong cuộc đấu súng với đặc nhiệm Delta Mỹ tại làng Barisha, tỉnh Idlib, Syria. Mỹ đă hải táng Baghdadi để ngăn những kẻ cực đoan biến nơi chôn cất y thành đền thờ.

Trump cho biết có thể giải mật và công bố một phần video cuộc đột kích mà ông ví "như một bộ phim điện ảnh". Video được cho gồm các ảnh quay trên không bằng máy bay không người lái cỡ nhỏ và có thể từ camera của đặc nhiệm tham gia chiến dịch. Đại tướng thủy quân lục chiến Mỹ Kenneth McKenzie, người theo dơi cuộc đột kích tại Nhà Trắng, xác nhận sẽ công bố video cuộc đột kích.

Ôi, cái chuyện cũng chẳng có ǵ là lớn lắm,
