Thẩm phán liên bang John Primomo đă xin về hưu ngay sau tuyên bố gây sốc của ḿnh với những người nhập tịch Hoa Kỳ. Ông đă phát biểu rằng “quí vị nên dọn đến nước khác để ở” nếu không thích ông Donald Trump làm tổng thống. Ngay sau khi nói câu này, ông đă phải nhận rất nhiều lời chỉ trích từ dư luận.


Thẩm Phán John Primomo. (H́nh: Print screen/KHOU)

Thẩm phán liên bang John Primomo, người bị chỉ trích nặng nề v́ nói với những người tuyên thệ vào quốc tịch hồi tuần rồi, rằng “quí vị nên dọn đến nước khác để ở” nếu không thích ông Donald Trump làm tổng thống.

Theo trang mạng MySanAntonio, hôm Thứ Ba, ông Priomo nộp đơn cho cấp trên, tŕnh bày rằng ông sẽ về hưu vào năm tới.

Trong đơn ông không nhắc đến vụ tranh căi dấy lên sau phát biểu của ông, sau khi đài truyền h́nh KENS TV cho phát lại một phần phát biểu của ông, khiến ông gặp ngay sự chỉ trích từ một số những người chống lại sự đắc cử của ông Trump cho rằng nói như vậy là không phải lẽ, trong đó có cả tổ chức dân quyền ACLU.

Ông Primomo, người từng chủ tŕ lễ tuyên thệ nhập tịch cho tối thiểu 100,000 tân công dân Hoa Kỳ từ năm 1989, nói rằng mặc dù ông không bỏ phiếu cho ông Trump nhưng muốn nhắc nhở với những tân công dân rằng họ cần phải tôn trọng tổng thống nước Mỹ, bất kể người đó là ai.

Các thẩm phán nhận được đơn khiếu nại hôm Thứ Ba và chuyển sang cho ṭa liên bang, một ngày sau khi họ đưa ra quyết định buộc ông Primomo phải ngưng chủ tọa các buổi lễ tuyên thệ sau này.

Ông Primomo sẽ tiếp tục phục vụ với tư cách chánh án liên bang, đưa ra quyết định về tiền tại ngoại, cũng như nghe xử các phiên sơ thẩm, cho đến khi ông về hưu vào ngày 23 Tháng Chín tới, khi ông được 65 tuổi.

He had every right to state what he thought (everyone is entitled to their opinions).

What is wrong about his statement is, it's divisive (có tính chia rẽ). I guess that did not sit well with the country having been so divided right now.

Do not see it? Don't know why? Please see my comment above.

We're Americans, may not want to hear a divisive statement like that. Don't get me wrong, he simply stated his own view, but it was a wrong time and at the wrong place (keep in mind that he is a judge, and that makes it wrong).

Well, the fact that he didn't support Trump earlier made me think that his statement is not divisive. Had he been a supporter of Trump, I'd interpret his statement to be divisive yes

How about this? In your work place, there are some people like your boss and some don't. One day, one of supervisors comes in and tells his group that "whether you like our boss or not, he is still our boss. If you don't like him? Then quit and get out of here".

Ok. Now, let me ask you this:

what would you think how the employees take that statement?

Would you think that supervisor should be reprimanded?

Would you voice your opinion to side with that supervisor?

(keep in mind that the guy is a supervisor saying thing like that to a divisive group of employees).

Có hai vấn đề :
1) Vị trí của ông ta là ai ?Một người đại diện cho luật pháp nước Mỹ .Ông ta phải biết ông ta đang nói ǵ ,và nói ở đâu .
2) Quan trọng là câu ông ta nói ,nếu đúng là câu : “quí vị nên dọn đến nước khác để ở nếu không thích ông Donald Trump làm tổng thống. ”
Thích hay không thích là quyền tự do của người ta .Không thích đâu phải là chống đối ,phá hoại đâu ?
Ông ta chỉ có thể khuyên : dù ai không thích Trump làm tt ,vẫn phải chấp nhận ,và tôn trọng ,nếu không thể chấp nhận việc đó , th́ có quyền dọn đi nước khác ở .
Đừng nói ǵ đâu xa ,thử trong đây ai chê bai ,chửi Obama ḿnh kêu :không thích Obama làm tt th́ nên đi xứ khác mà ở .Coi có bị chửi te tua không th́ biết .
Chỉ khi nào ḿnh nói không thích nước Mỹ ,không thích đời sống xứ Mỹ ,th́ kêu ḿnh nên dọn đi xứ khác mà ở th́ được .

Well, in that context, it might sound blunt and not diplomatic, but I'd not think it's wrong, whether I like that boss or not. I'd think that the supervisor is siding with the boss.

However, in this article, they prefaced it stating that

I got three words about this:

His title, wrong place, and at the wrong time (has nothing to do with him being Trump's supporter or not).

haha ok, so i guess it's more of a person being in his position should not make that statement; for us folks, it'd not be as controversial if we make that statement.

Và với suy nghĩ của ông Judge này, th́ dân nhập cư đả rất khó khăn và đả hoàn thiện cái bước cơ bản để thành một Công dân của Hoa Kỳ với sự tự nguyện, chứ không ai ép buộc , th́ đừng để những ư nghĩ coi thuờng việc trở thành công dân Mỹ với tổng thống mà họ không thích và lại đ̣i ỉ ôi đ̣i dọn đi nước khác th́ tốt nhất take it or leave it ngay từ bây giờ để khỏi mất công tuyên thệ chi cho mệt. Nói đâu xa, bao nhiêu người VN ḿnh đă tốn bao nhiêu máu và nước mắt( bao nhiêu mạng người bỏ nới biển cả, nơi tù giam , mới đến được Mỹ này, và phải làm bao nhiêu, tốn thới gian bao nhiêu để thành công dân Mỹ, đâu phải muốn đến là đến như bọn Đỏ( Du Hí Sinh, hày là bọn Tư Bản đỏ ) , cho nên cái lời tuyên thệ để thành công dân Mỹ, nó quan trọng đến thế nào, đừng nên coi thuờng nó

Man!!! No need to say that I was told about this avatar and how decisive it is, but gotta say it again: "Beauty with brains".
