(Tổng hợp) – Toà Bạch Ốc và lãnh đạo Thượng viện vào đầu giờ sáng thứ Tư (giờ miền Đông) đã đạt được thoả thuận gói ngân khoản $2 nghìn tỉ Mỹ kim nhằm thúc đẩy nền kinh tế đang phải vật lộn với đại dịch virus corona.


Thoả thuận khép lại nhiều ngày chạy đua thương lượng để tạo ra một trong những dự luật đắt đỏ và sâu rộng nhất trong lịch sử Quốc hội. “Thưa Quý bà, quý ông, chúng tôi đã xong. Chúng tôi đã đạt được thoả thuận,” Giám đốc Công tác Lập pháp Eric Ueland tuyên bố ngay trước 1h sáng thứ Tư ngày 25 tháng 3 theo giờ miền Đông.

Thương lượng kéo dài liên tục kể từ thứ Sáu tuần trước.

Lãnh tụ Đa số Thượng viện Mitch McConnell dự tính sẽ thông báo trên sàn Thượng viện về thoả thuận đạt được trên đề nghị của ông.

Chi tiết cụ thể về thoả thuận chưa được công bố. Nhưng hơn 24 tiếng đồ hồ qua, những yếu tố của đề nghị được tập trung rõ hơn, với $250 tỉ Mỹ kim cứu trợ trực tiếp cho các cá nhân và gia đình, $350 tỉ Mỹ kim dành cho các khoản vay của cơ sở nhỏ, $250 tỉ Mỹ kim trả tiền thất nghiệp, và $500 tỉ cho các công ty gặp khó khăn vay.

Nền kinh tế Mỹ đang gánh phải thiệt hại nặng nề trước tình trạng dịch bệnh COVID 19 leo thang chóng mặt.

Nước Mỹ vào thứ Ba chứng kiến một ngày có nhiều ca tử vong nhất, với ít nhất 163 người chết do virus corona. Con số thống kê mới nhất vào tối khuya thứ Ba, Mỹ có gần 55.000 người nhiễm virus corona, và con số tử vong tăng lên hơn 780 người, với 378 bệnh nhân hồi phục. Hiện 50% dân số, hay 180 triệu người Mỹ, được yêu cầu ở trong nhà, hạn chế đi lại.
