Trong cái tuổi khi truy cập thông tin là quan trọng đối với nghề nghiệp và cuộc sống hàng ngày, thì khó mà đo được bao nhiêu nhà tại Hoa Kỳ không có những dụng cụ thông tin căn bản.



Một phúc trình thống kê dân số gần đây về tính khả hữu của kỹ thuật -- thăm dò chi tiết nhất và việc sử dụng máy điện toán tại nhà -- cho thấy rằng 28% hộ gia đình tại Hoa Kỳ (33 triệu hộ gia đình) không có một máy điện toán. Và 36% (42 triệu) hộ gia đình không có phương tiện để truy cập Internet.

Sự thiếu vắng kỹ thuật này là thí dụ khác về vực thẳm giữa người có và người không có.

Chắc chắn, một số khoảng cách thì đã có thể tiên đoán: Kỹ thuật là trò chơi của những người trẻ. Nhưng không phải là nhỏ.

Bạn càng già, thì càng ít có thể có kỹ thuật, theo thống kê dân số. Nhưng sự sút giảm thực sự không đến cho tới tuổi 65, với 35% hộ gia đình người cao niên không có máy điện toán và 44% không có internet.

Thăm dò cũng cho thấy rằng cơ hội có những dụng cụ điện tử này tại nhà thì gắn chặt với một số thành công trong cuộc đời, chẳng hạn, giáo dục.

Thống kê dân số cho thấy rằng đối với những gia đình nào mà người chủ hộ gia đình có bằng cấp học vị chỉ ở mức trung học thì 32% không có máy điện toán, 43% không có internet. Nhưng nếu người chủ hộ gia đình có bằng đại học thì chỉ 8% là không có máy điện toán và chỉ 15% là không có intetnet.

Vậy thì xin chúc mừng nước Việt cộng đang sắp sửa vượt qua mặt nước Mỹ rồi vì có số dân sở hữu computer nhiều hơn mấy lần dân Mỹ(tính theo thống kê của nhà báo việt cộng hahaha)
