(Politico) – Cựu Tổng thống Donald Trump vào thứ Ba tuyên chiến với Lănh tụ Thiểu số Thượng viện Mitch McConnell trong tuyên bố mang tính cá nhân, chống lại lănh đạo Cộng hoà v́ đă không hậu thuẫn nỗ lực làm suy yếu bầu cử 2020 của ông ta.


“Mitch là kẻ tấn công chính trị cố chấp, ủ rũ và thiếu sinh khí, và nếu các Thượng nghị sĩ Cộng ḥa đang đứng về phía ông ta th́ họ sẽ không thắng lần nữa,” Trump ghi trong tuyên bố được tổ chức hành động chính trị của ông ta gởi ra. “Ông ta sẽ không bao giờ làm những ǵ cần làm, hoặc làm những ǵ đúng đắn cho quốc gia chúng ta. Lúc cần thiết và phù hợp, tôi sẽ ủng hộ những đối thủ ṿng sơ bộ, những người ủng hộ Tạo dựng Nước Mỹ Vĩ đại lại, và chính sách Nước Mỹ trên hết của chúng ta.

Chúng ta muốn một lănh đạo xuất sắc, mạnh mẽ, thấu đáo, và biết quan tâm.” Ông Trump khẳng định, sự yếu kém của Thượng nghị sĩ Cộng hoà từ Kentucky đă góp phần làm cho Cộng hoà mất thế đa số tại Thượng viện. “Sự cống hiến của McConnell vào công việc như thường lệ, những chính sách nguyên trạng, đă nhanh chóng khiến ông ta từ Lănh tụ Đa số rớt xuống thành Lănh tụ Thiểu số, và việc này sẽ càng ngày trở nên tồi tệ hơn.”

McConnell công khai lên án cựu Tổng thống sau vụ bạo động diễn ra tại Capitol vào ngày 6 tháng 1, bỏ lại 4 năm ủng hộ từ lănh đạo Thượng viện Cộng hoà. Mặc dù bỏ phiếu chống lại truy tố ông Trump sau phiên xét xử luận tội, McConnell trên sàn Thượng viện lại tuyên bố, Trump chịu trách nhiệm về mặt thực tế và mặt đạo đức đối với vụ bạo loạn khiến 5 người bị thiệt mạng.

McConnell lập luận, Thượng viện không thể xét xử và truy tố một cựu tổng thống v́ việc này vi hiến. Nhưng ông lại chia sẻ với đồng nghiệp rằng, ông Trump có thể đối mặt với truy tố h́nh sự.

McConnell vào Chủ nhật có bài xă luận đăng trên tờ Wall Street Journal nhằm bảo vệ quyết định của ḿnh, và bài báo đă làm ông Trump nổi giận, theo một nguồn tin thông thạo sự việc. Nguồn tin này cho hay, đích thân ông Trump đọc cho nhân viên viết tuyên bố chỉ trích McConnell. Và tuyên bố được công bố đă phần nào bớt giọng điệu giận dữ sau khi cố vấn hàng đầu của ông Trump, Jason Miller, viết lại.

Nguồn tin xác nhận, tuyên bố có thể tồi tệ hơn rất nhiều. Bản thảo tử cựu Tổng thống chế nhạo McConnell có nhiều nọng, nhưng ông Trump được các cố vấn thuyết phục bỏ đoạn này ra. “Có nhiều thứ được lặp đi lặp lại, và chắc chắn nói về ông ấy có nhiều nọng, và không đủ khôn ngoan,” nguồn tin nói.

Văn pḥng Lănh tụ Thiểu số Thượng viện hiện chưa đưa ra lời b́nh luận, nhưng trong một cuộc phỏng vấn với Politico vào tối thứ Bảy vừa qua, McConnell cho hay, ông sẽ không cho phép Trump đứng ngán đường Cộng ḥa giành lại đa số Thượng viện vào năm 2022. McConnell chia sẻ, ông sẵn sàng tham gia vào ṿng sơ bộ của Cộng hoà nếu cựu Tổng thống hậu thuẫn một ứng cử viên khó có khả năng giành chiến thắng tổng tuyển cử.

“Mục tiêu của tôi trong mọi cách là có được những ứng cử viên đảng Cộng hoà có thể thắng vào tháng 11,” McConnell nói. “Một số họ có thể là người được cựu Tổng thống ưa thích, một số họ có thể không. Điều duy nhất mà tôi quan tâm là thắng cử.”

Tuyên bố của ông Trump hầu như chắc chắn gia tăng cuộc chiến trong nội bộ Cộng hoà về tương lai của Đảng sau nhiệm kỳ của ông Trump. Trong khi những đồng minh khác của cựu Tổng thống như Thượng nghị sĩ Lindsey Graham (Cộng hoà – South Carolina) nói rơ sẽ vẫn gắn bó mật thiết với ông Trump, th́ hầu hết Thượng nghị sĩ Cộng hoà đă theo sự lănh đạo của McConnell trong phiên xét xử luận tội. Mặc dù chỉ có 7 Thượng nghị sĩ Cộng hoà bỏ phiếu truy tố cựu Tổng thống, nhưng đa số các nhà lập pháp Cộng hoà tại Thượng viện không bênh vực hành vi của ông Trump, thay vào đó tập trung vào những lập luận pháp lư chống lại việc truy tố.

Trump thường xuyên tấn công các nhà lập pháp Cộng hoà nào từ chối hậu thuẫn những tuyên bố gian lận bầu cử vô căn cứ. Sau khi Thống đốc và Chánh Thư kư Cộng hoà của tiểu bang Georgia phản đối nỗ lực không chấp nhận chiến thắng của Tổng thống Joe Biden, ông Trump đă đe doạ chống lại hai người này trong ṿng thách thức sơ bộ.

Và khi cựu Phó Tổng thống Mike Pence từ chối phản đối kết quả bầu cử trong thời gian làm chủ toạ kiểm phiếu cử tri đoàn tại Quốc hội, ông Trump đă lên Twitter chỉ trích, chế giễu cựu Phó Tổng thống, vô h́nh dung đă thúc đẩy những kẻ bạo loạn truy t́m và đ̣i “treo cổ Mike Pence” khi bọn họ xông vào Điện Capitol.

Cựu Tổng thống chỉ trích McConnell đă “không làm ǵ cả và sẽ không làm ǵ cả để bảo đảm một hệ thống bầu cử công bằng trong tương lai.”
