Old  Default COVID-19 vaccine and fake news .
Sherri Tenpenny
stated on February 9, 2021 in a Bitchute video:
"Some people are going to die from the vaccine directly. But a large number of people are going to start getting horribly sick and get all kinds of autoimmune diseases."

By Daniel Funke

A Feb. 9 video features former Nevada City, Calif., Mayor Reinette Senum and Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, an osteopathic physician. Over the course of an hour, the two women characterize the coronavirus vaccine as "deadly" and a "bioweapon." The video was published on Bitchute, a video platform similar to YouTube, but one that researchers say hosts large amounts of hate speech and disinformation.

There is no evidence to suggest that the COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved for emergency use in the U.S. cause autoimmune diseases or death.

Clinical trials — which lasted months and included tens of thousands of participants — indicated no connection between the vaccines and autoimmune diseases.

Millions of Americans have received the coronavirus vaccines. If they caused widespread autoimmune diseases, those instances would be documented in the federal government’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. But the system indicates only a handful of self-reported autoimmune diseases, and even that data is unverified.

"While very important in monitoring vaccine safety, VAERS reports alone cannot be used to determine if a vaccine caused or contributed to an adverse event or illness," the CDC says. "The reports may contain information that is incomplete, inaccurate, coincidental, or unverifiable."

There have been reports of people who received the coronavirus vaccines and later died. But that doesn’t mean the vaccine killed them — the vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective in tens of thousands of people.

J. Bart Classen
stated on January 18, 2021 in a research article:
The COVID-19 vaccine could lead to prion diseases, Alzheimer’s, ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases.

By By Daniel Funke

A research article making the rounds online claims that the COVID-19 vaccine could cause diseases like Alzheimer’s. Don’t believe it.

In the article, published in the journal Microbiology & Infectious Diseases in January, J. Bart Classen wrote that components of the coronavirus vaccines may cause the misfolding of proteins associated with Alzheimer’s and Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

"The enclosed finding as well as additional potential risks leads the author to believe that regulatory approval of the RNA based vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 was premature and that the vaccine may cause much more harm than benefit," Classen said in the paper.

Classen’s paper presents no evidence other than a three-sentence methods section that summarizes an unspecified analysis of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Coronavirus vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna have not been linked to neurodegenerative or prion diseases.

Millions of Americans have received the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines since they were approved. If they caused neurodegenerative or prion diseases, those instances would be documented in the federal government’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System — but they’re not.

"VAERS has received no reports of prion-related diseases, Alzheimer's disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) after COVID-19 vaccination," said Martha Sharan, a spokesperson for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "No evidence to date indicates a causative association between COVID-19 vaccines and these conditions."

------------------------------------------------------------------

James Edming
stated on March 23, 2021 in a speech:
“You can’t tell me they can (develop a safe vaccine) in eight to 10 months. Or a year. It takes more time than that.”

By Eric Litke

State Rep. James Edming doesn’t trust the COVID-19 vaccine.

He even told a Wisconsin Assembly committee, "we should eliminate" it.

Explaining his objection, the 75-year-old Republican from Glen Flora, in rural northern Wisconsin, has repeatedly cited a personal anecdote, most recently in a March 23, 2021, floor session of the Wisconsin state Assembly.

Yes, data shows COVID-19 vaccines are safe despite quick timeline

Edming based his argument on an anecdote about another drug, but that was a hormone supplement, not a vaccine, and it was approved under far more lenient FDA requirements more than 80 years ago.

The timeline in this case was drastically sped up due to scientific cooperation and breakthroughs, ample funding and fast-tracked paperwork. But the vaccines still went through the normal testing and approval process.

The COVID-19 vaccines were together tested on more than 100,000 people (in addition to animals) before their release, following a standard three-phrase testing.

The most obvious evidence the vaccine is safe comes from the more than 100 million Americans who have received a dose so far, with minimal complications reported despite the massive sample size.

In a speech detailing his distrust of scientists and the COVID-19 vaccine, Edming said, "You can’t tell me they can (develop a safe vaccine) in eight to 10 months. Or a year. It takes more time than that."

Edming leaned on criticism of a medical treatment — not a vaccine — developed in the 1930s and released without a fraction of the scientific scrutiny given to the COVID-19 vaccines.

And in any case, his conclusion is contrary to the overwhelming medical consensus and what we can clearly see from the worldwide rollout. Vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson (with others on the way) were able to develop as quickly as they did due to a breakthrough vaccine mechanism, billions in federal funding and an array of bureaucratic fast-tracking that allowed faster production, simultaneous trials and timely approvals.

Those vaccines were together tested on more than 100,000 people. And with millions of people now safely and effectively vaccinated, we see that safety claims made based on the trials were indeed valid. Which makes Edming’s claim ridiculous.

Facebook posts
stated on March 28, 2021 in a video on Facebook:
Video says COVID-19 vaccines are “weapons of mass destruction” that “could wipe out the human race.”

By Madison Czopek

In a nearly 22-minute long Facebook video, a man who identifies himself as Dr. Vernon Coleman has a lot to say about the COVID-19 vaccines.

The video post is titled, "Covid-19 Va@xines Are Weapons of Mass Destruction - and Could Wipe out the Human Race." (The misspelling of "vaccines" is intentional — it helps posters avoid Facebook’s moderation of anti-vaccine misinformation.)

"We all know that the evil elite — the Agenda 21 and Great Reset promoters — have all along intended to kill between 90 and 95% of the world’s population," Coleman says in the video. "Sadly I fear it’s already too late to save many of those who’ve had the vaccine. Millions are doomed, and I fear that many will die when they next come in contact with the coronavirus."

Coleman also goes on to reiterate that he believes the vaccines "could kill more people than COVID-19," and that it "now seems likely that the vaccines may be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions who haven’t been vaccinated."

No, the COVID-19 vaccines are not weapons of mass destruction

• The claim that the vaccines are being used to kill a large portion of the world’s population is rooted in the widely-debunked “Great Reset” and “Agenda 21” conspiracy theories.

• There is no evidence that deaths have been caused by COVID-19 vaccines.

• PolitiFact has previously debunked Vernon Coleman’s conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 vaccines.

The claim is linked to widely-debunked conspiracy theories about a group of so-called global elites’ "secret plot" to create a totalitarian world government and purge a large portion of the planet’s population. There is no evidence to support the claim that the COVID-19 vaccines are "weapons of mass destruction" that will cause widespread deaths.

The video’s claim is inaccurate and ridiculous. We rate it Pants on Fire!

Fact Check:Vaccinated People Are NOT 'Walking Biological Time Bombs'

by: Dana Ford

Are people who received a COVID-19 vaccine "walking biological time bombs"? No, that's not true: There is no publicly available evidence the vaccines help create "superstrains and superbugs." Contrary to what the video post claims, the vaccines can actually help prevent the emergence of new variants, and early studies suggest the COVID-19 vaccines available at the time this was written provide at least some protection against new virus variants.

Fact Check: 'Wrong Vaccines' Did NOT Turn People Into Zombies In 'I Am Legend' Film

By: Victoria Eavis

The claim appeared in a Facebook post where it was published on March 21, 2021, with the caption "ENJOY YALL DAY." The text pasted onto the photo opened:

JUST WANTED TO REMIND YOU ALL THAT IN THE MOVIE I AM LEGEND 'THE YEAR WAS 2021, AND PEOPLE TURNED INTO ZOMBIES BECAUSE OF THE WRONG VACCINES

Did the 2007 fictional movie "I Am Legend" tell the story of a population that gets turned into zombies by "the wrong vaccine" in 2021? No, that's not true: The movie is set in 2012, not 2021, and the characters in the movie are not harmed by a vaccine, but a genetically-modified virus meant to cure cancer.

Fact Check: The CDC Did NOT Report 1,739 Deaths From The COVID-19 Vaccine

By: Dana Ford

The claim appeared in an article published by Before It's News on March 21, 2021. The article, which was titled "CDC reports 1739 deaths and 6286 serious injuries from Covid-19 vaccine, 6k + children test subjects, Latest week reports reveals 478 cases of Bell's Palsy," opened:

CDC reports 1739 deaths and 6286 serious injuries from Covid-19 vaccine, 6k + children test subjects, Latest week reports reveals 478 cases of Bell's Palsy 'If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.'...Joseph Goebbels

Did the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report 1,739 deaths from the COVID-19 vaccine? No, that's not true: There's no public evidence the vaccine caused deaths. As its source, the claim cites the government's rough list of unverified reports: Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). Anyone can report events to VAERS, and the reports -- on their own -- cannot be used to say whether a vaccine caused a particular adverse event.

Specific to the COVID-19 vaccine, the CDC has said that more than 109 million doses of the vaccine were administered in the United States between December 14, 2020, and March, 15, 2021. During that time, VAERS received reports of 1,913 deaths among people who got the shot. The CDC follows up on each report. It said:

A review of available clinical information including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records revealed no evidence that vaccination contributed to patient deaths.

And, also:

To date, VAERS has not detected patterns in cause of death that would indicate a safety problem with COVID-19 vaccines.

COVID-19 vaccines did not cause a 366% increase in miscarriages, as article claims

By Samantha Putterman

There is currently no evidence of an increase in miscarriages as a result of COVID-19 immunization.

This claim was made based on United Kingdom data.

Health officials in the U.K. said the figures are being taken out of context. The article doesn’t account for the increase in the vaccination rates over time, or the average number of miscarriages that occur naturally.

A claim circulating online claims that the number of pregnant women who have miscarried increased by "366% in just six weeks" as a result of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.

This statement takes data out of context and presents an unfounded conclusion. Health officials in the U.K. say that there is currently no evidence of an increase in miscarriages after COVID-19 immunization. The article on which the claim is based misrepresents figures from the country’s vaccine reporting system, and officials say it doesn’t account for the increased vaccination rate over time, or the country’s average rate of miscarriages. Nor is there any evidence that has shown a causal link between the vaccine and miscarriages.

We rate this False.

No, it’s not safer to skip the COVID-19 vaccine to avoid permanent side effects

By Tom Kertscher

Getting vaccinated reduced the likelihood of COVID-19 infection by as much as 95% in clinical trials.

If you get vaccinated and still get COVID-19, vaccines make it less likely that you’ll get seriously ill.

There is no evidence of permanent side effects.

A widely shared Instagram post stated: "If I don’t take the vaccine, I’m at risk for covid. If I do take the vaccine, I’m still at risk for covid PLUS I’m at risk for permanent vaccine side effects. Therefore I’m reducing my risk by not taking the vaccine. That’s the real science."

Science shows that the three COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the U.S. reduce the likelihood of infection by 66% to 95% — and make it less likely that you’ll get seriously ill if you do contract COVID-19 after being vaccinated. There is no evidence the vaccines cause permanent side effects.

We rate the post False.

European database does not prove the COVID-19 vaccines are lethal

By Andy Nguyen

The post shares information from a European database of reported adverse effects after COVID-19 vaccination. The agency maintaining the database stresses the information it provides is preliminary and requires additional research before making conclusions.
The vaccines have been administered to millions of people across the globe and health agencies have vouched for their safety and effectiveness.

The Gateway Pundit claimed two of the vaccines being used in the United States are behind thousands of deaths and injuries in Europe.

"From Europe: 3,964 people have died from adverse drug reactions for COVID-19 ‘vaccines’ – 162,610 injuries," said the headline of the March 28 story, which was shared on Facebook.

The Facebook post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed.

The Gateway Pundit cites information from Global Research, a Canadian website run by the Centre for Research on Globalization, which was accused by NATO of posting conspiracy theories, spreading Russian disinformation and undermining Western media.

A post claimed that in Europe "3,964 people have died from adverse drug reactions for COVID-19 ‘vaccines’ – 162,610 injuries."

That’s a misrepresentation of information in an European database that tracks suspected reactions to medicines, including COVID-19 vaccines. The agency behind the database cautions that the information is only of suspected side effects, and that it should not be interpreted as meaning that the medicine caused the effects or that it’s unsafe.

A detailed evaluation and scientific assessment of all available data is needed before drawing conclusions, the agency said.

The COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to millions of people across Europe and the United States, and health agencies have vouched for their safety and effectiveness. We found no definitive proof that a COVID-19 vaccine caused someone’s death.

We rate this claim False.

COVID-19 vaccines have not led to 6,000% increase in patient deaths, as post suggests

These figures are based on a federally maintained database on adverse reactions to vaccinations that collects information from almost anyone who wants to report it. But the database keepers have stressed the numbers alone are unverified and require case by case study to be interpreted.

There is no evidence linking these deaths to vaccines. The CDC says the database “has not detected patterns in cause of death that would indicate a safety problem with COVID-19 vaccines.”

PolitiFact has previously debunked similar misinterpretations of reported vaccination reactions data.

By Andy Nguyen

An Instagram post shares a startling headline on the reportedly sharp increase in the number of vaccine-related deaths during the coronavirus pandemic.

"6000% Increase in Reported Vaccine Deaths 1st Quarter 2021 Compared to 1st Quarter 2020," reads the screenshot of an article published on April 1 from a website called Truth Unmuted.

The article is based on a misrepresentation of information from a federally maintained database of suspected adverse reactions to vaccinations, including the COVID-19 vaccines. The database cautions users the numbers reported should not be taken as fact since they have not been verified through independent scientific study.

Millions of people across the United States have been given a COVID-19 vaccination and not enough research has been done to show a definitive link between the vaccines and any of the reported adverse reactions.

We rate this claim False.

COVID-19 is caused by a virus and autopsies do not violate WHO policies, as posts claim

• COVID-19 is caused by a virus, not by bacteria.

• The World Health Organization does not prohibit autopsies on people who have died because of COVID-19.

By Madison Czopek

More than a year after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, posts circulating on social media continue to purport that the public’s understanding of the illness — and of the virus that causes it — is deeply flawed.

One Instagram post shares a headline that says COVID-19 is not actually caused by a virus at all.

"Russia is the first country in the world to dissect Covid-19 corpses, and after a thorough investigation, it was determined that Covid does NOT exist AS A VIRUS," reads the screenshot of a story headline.

The photo caption goes on to say that the Russian doctors the article refers to are "violating" a World Health Organization "law that does not allow autopsies of people" who have died of COVID-19.

The post also claims a bacteria, rather than a virus, causes the disease.

"After a period of scientific discovery, it cannot be assumed that it is a virus, but rather bacteria that cause death," the post says, before reiterating, "the patient dies because of these bacteria."

COVID-19 is caused by a virus, not by bacteria. The WHO does not prohibit autopsies on people who have died of COVID-19. The organization actually provided guidelines for how to safely perform autopsies on COVID-19 patients.

The COVID-19 vaccine is not an ‘operating system’ run by Bill Gates

• The COVID-19 vaccines help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. They are not part of a Bill Gates-run plot to program humans.

By Daniel Funke

The technology behind two coronavirus vaccines approved for emergency use in the U.S. is actually an operating system aimed at programming humans. The programmer? Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates.

That’s not the plot of a science fiction movie — it’s a bogus conspiracy theory in a video seen more than 48,000 times on Facebook.

"The new so-called experimental vaccine, what’s new about it? The real new and amazing thing about it is that it’s not even a vaccine — mRNA is not a vaccine," a man says in the March 31 video, which includes other anti-vaccine claims. "The CEO of Moderna boasts about the fact that the mRNA vaccine is actually an operating system, such as you would put in your computer."

"And of course who’s the great programmer who has bestowed upon himself the title of the grand programmer of humanity? Well it’s Bill Gates himself."

The instructions contained in mRNA vaccines degrade quickly once they’re inside immune cells. We’ve previously debunked claims that mRNA vaccines alter people’s DNA and control them. Conspiracy theories accusing Gates of a nefarious coronavirus vaccination scheme have circulated since last spring.

The Facebook video is inaccurate and ridiculous. We rate it Pants on Fire!

COVID-19 Shots Are NOT Set To Contribute To The 'Decimation Of The World's Population'

By Dana Ford

Are COVID-19 shots set to contribute to the "decimation of the world's population"? No, that's not true: The claim is one of several presented without credible evidence during a video interview with Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi, a German microbiologist. He also alleges that the COVID-19 pandemic is "fake," that PCR tests lie, that the success of vaccines is measured by their impact on fatality rates rather than infection rates and that COVID-19 vaccines are killing people. All are recycled claims that have been debunked before by Lead Stories and others, including medical experts.

The nearly 40-minute interview was the basis of a post (archived here) published by The New American magazine on April 16, 2021. The post, titled "COVID Shots to 'Decimate World Population,' Warns Dr. Bhakdi," opened:

In this exclusive interview with The New American magazine's Senior Editor Alex Newman, world-renown German-Thai-American microbiologist Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi warns that the COVID hysteria is based on lies and that the COVID 'vaccines' are set to cause a global catastrophe and a decimation of the human population.

Users on social media saw this title, description and thumbnail:

Bhakdi and his wife, Karina Reiss, are the authors of a book titled: "Corona, False Alarm?"

There's no evidence the pandemic is fake. At the time of writing -- April 28, 2021 -- COVID-19 has killed more than 3.1 million people worldwide, including more than 570,000 in the United States and 82,000 in Germany.

There's also no evidence that PCR tests lie. Lead Stories has covered this claim before. See here for our previous debunk, which found that PCR tests accurately confirm the presence of the virus.

At higher amplification cycle thresholds, the virus may not be viable and a patient may not be infectious, but that doesn't mean the patient doesn't have the disease. The PCR test is the most widely used and trusted test for diagnosing COVID-19.

Around the 15-minute mark, Bhakdi began talking about the COVID-19 vaccines and fatality rates. He said that people under 70 have only a 0.05% chance of dying from COVID-19, a claim he's made -- and that Lead Stories has covered -- before. He then said that any vaccine would have to lower that number.

That's not true because that's not how vaccines work.

Vaccines primarily work by reducing the risk of infection, not infection fatality rates, as Lead Stories has written about before. The hope with the COVID-19 vaccines, as with all vaccines, is that people who otherwise would have contracted the disease, won't get it.

No, there is no evidence that spending time around vaccinated people causes death or disease

By Madison Czopek

• The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines cannot affect people who are not vaccinated.

• There is no evidence the COVID-19 vaccines cause infertility or pregnancy complications.

A Facebook video claims that people who aren’t vaccinated against COVID-19 should "beware" because being around people who have received the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines could cause "death and disease."

There is no evidence anyone has died after being close to someone who received an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.

Experts say there is no way for people to shed mRNA or spike proteins after they’ve been vaccinated. The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines cannot affect people who are not vaccinated.

We rate this claim False.

No, vaccinated people don’t make up 60% of new COVID-19 cases

By Gabrielle Settles

The CDC reports that out of 87 million fully vaccinated people, 7,157 people had breakthrough cases of COVID-19. That’s 0.008% of all fully vaccinated people.

A study of healthcare workers and frontline personnel who received the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines showed that the vaccines were 80% effective after the first dose, and 90% after the second.

An Instagram post credits a Yale professor as saying that out of the new COVID-19 cases, 60% are patients who have had the vaccine.

The CDC reported that as of April 20, only 7,157 breakthrough cases have been reported out of 87 million fully vaccinated people. That’s 0.008% of the vaccinated population.

Studies show that the mRNA vaccines are 80% effective after one dose, and 90% effective after two doses.

Despite all the talk, COVID-19 vaccination does not infect people with shingles
If Your Time is short

By Julie Appleby

COVID-19 vaccinations do not infect recipients with shingles or any form of herpes virus, despite some misleading headlines. It is plausible, but unproven, that COVID-19 vaccines could fuel a reactivation of existing, but dormant, herpes virus in some people.
An Israeli study found that six women out of a group of nearly 500 people came down with shingles in the days and weeks following vaccination. All six had autoimmune diseases making them more susceptible to shingles. Also, the study was not designed to determine cause and effect.
Some other vaccines have shown to reactivate the virus that causes shingles, but so far there is no definitive proof that COVID-19 vaccines do so.

An online post claims the COVID-19 vaccines cause shingles or other dangerous skin conditions.

Although it contains a sliver of truth, it ignores important information. For instance, the evidence to date indicates this is an area to continue monitoring, but no direct link has been established between COVID-19 vaccination and shingles or other serious skin conditions.

The study cited was not intended to prove cause and effect, and it was looking at patients who already had suppressed immune systems that made them more likely to get shingles whether they had a vaccination or not.

We rate this statement Mostly False.
