Nguồn tin Reuters khẳng định nội bộ Nhà Trắng có sự bất đồng nghiêm trọng về việc rút lại các khoản thuế trừng phạt đánh vào hàng hóa Trung Quốc.

Theo các nguồn tin này, ư tưởng Washington rút lại thuế trừng phạt không hề được đưa ra trong thỏa thuận “bắt tay” mà Tổng thống Mỹ Donald Trump và Chủ tịch Trung Quốc Tập Cận B́nh đạt được hồi tháng 10.

Hôm 7/11, các quan chức Trung Quốc tuyên bố Washington và Bắc Kinh đă đạt thỏa thuận về việc gỡ bỏ thuế trừng phạt. Và đến buổi chiều, các quan chức Mỹ xác nhận thông tin này.

Tuy nhiên nguồn tin Reuters nói rằng một số quan chức Nhà Trắng lo ngại việc gỡ bỏ thuế trừng phạt sẽ khiến Mỹ đánh mất ưu thế trong các cuộc đàm phán với Trung Quốc.

Reuters dẫn lời cựu cố vấn Nhà Trắng Steve Bannon nhận định việc gỡ bỏ thuế trừng phạt đánh lên hàng Trung Quốc “đi ngược lại tinh thần” thỏa thuận tháng 10.

Ông Christian Whiton, cựu cố vấn chính phủ Mỹ, cho rằng việc ông Trump đồng ư với thỏa thuận gỡ bỏ thuế trừng phạt sẽ là điều vô cùng đáng ngạc nhiên, bởi thuế là “vũ khí thương mại yêu thích” của ông chủ Nhà Trắng.
