Cựu Tổng thống Trump đă gửi lời chia buồn tới gia đ́nh các nạn nhân trong vụ tấn công, nhưng không trực tiếp chỉ trích người kế nhiệm Joe Biden, và gọi vụ đánh bom là một vụ tấn công khủng bố "man rợ, tàn ác" này, sau đó ông Trump nhấn mạnh trong tuyên bố bằng văn bản phát cho truyền thông là thảm kịch này lẽ ra không được phép xảy ra nếu tôi c̣n là tổng thống.

Cựu Tổng thống Mỹ Donald Trump.

Đài Fox News ngày hôm nay (27/8) đă đăng tải đoạn video tuyên bố của cựu Tổng thống Donald Trump sau vụ đánh bom liều chết ở Afghanistan hôm 26/8. Trong đó, ông Trump đă gửi lời chia buồn tới gia đ́nh các nạn nhân trong vụ tấn công, nhưng không trực tiếp chỉ trích người kế nhiệm Joe Biden.

Gọi vụ đánh bom là một vụ tấn công khủng bố "man rợ, tàn ác", ông Trump khẳng định: "Thảm kịch này... lẽ ra đă không xảy ra, và sẽ không xảy ra nếu tôi c̣n là Tổng thống của các bạn. Tôi biết rằng trong những tuần qua, nhiều người Mỹ đă theo dơi các sự kiện ở Afghanistan với tâm trạng cay đắng, thậm chí là đau đớn".

Cùng với đoạn video nói trên, ông Trump cũng đă phát thông cáo bằng văn bản sau vụ đánh bom chấn động - trước khi Tổng thống Biden có bài phát biểu trước toàn quốc: "[Cựu đệ nhất phu nhân] Melania và tôi xin gửi lời chia buồn sâu sắc nhất tới thân nhân của các quân nhân xuất chúng, dũng cảm của nước Mỹ. [...] Thảm kịch này lẽ ra không được phép xảy ra".

Trước những lời chỉ trích v́ vội vàng rút quân khỏi Afghanistan, giúp Taliban nhanh chóng chiếm được nước này, chính quyền Biden đă đổ lỗi cho người tiền nhiệm.

Trong bài phát biểu tại Nhà Trắng hôm 26/8, Tổng thống Biden cho biết: "Về cơ bản, tôi chịu trách nhiệm trước tất cả những ǵ đă xảy ra. NHƯNG các bạn cũng như tôi đều biết rằng cựu Tổng thống [Trump] đă thỏa thuận với Taliban về việc rút toàn bộ lực lượng của Mỹ khỏi Afghanistan trước ngày 1/5 năm nay".

Trong cuộc phóng vấn với đài Fox News hôm 26/8, cựu Tổng thống Trump nói rằng cuộc tấn công của Taliban nhằm vào quân đội Mỹ hồi tháng 3 sẽ khiến ông phải chấm dứt thỏa thuận và tấn công trả đũa Taliban.

Cựu Tổng thống cho biết, trong thỏa thuận đă định rơ các điều kiện để Mỹ rút quân - "và nếu như Taliban vi phạm thỏa thuận, th́ chính quyền của tôi sẽ ngay lập tức can thiệp và ném bom. Nếu như vậy th́ không đời nào Taliban có thể tiến về Kabul".
