Tổng thống Trump giận dữ khi giới chức Mỹ đưa người nhiễm Covid-19 về nước. V́ sao ư? V́ ông cho rằng việc đưa 14 người Mỹ nhiễm Covid-19 từ Nhật Bản về nước đă phá hủy nỗ lực nhằm đối phó với dịch bệnh của chính quyền ông.

Tổng thống Trump đă nổi cơn thịnh nộ với các cố vấn cấp cao trong tuần này khi 14 công dân Mỹ dương tính với Covid-19 được đưa về nước từ Nhật Bản, mặc dù trước đó, ông được thông tin rằng họ vẫn bị cách ly ở nước ngoài, các quan chức trong chính quyền Mỹ chia sẻ với Washington Post.

Ban đầu Tổng thống Mỹ được thông tin rằng những người Mỹ trên du thuyền Diamond Princess - nơi ghi nhận nhiều trường hợp nhiễm Covid-19, sẽ hồi hương trên 2 máy bay nhưng những người đă nhiễm bệnh hoặc có các triệu chứng sẽ phải ở lại Nhật Bản tại nơi con tàu này neo đậu.

Tuy nhiên, Bộ Ngoại giao Mỹ và 1 quan chức y tế Mỹ đă quyết định đưa cả những người Mỹ bị nhiễm bệnh lên 2 chiếc máy bay này và cách ly họ mà không thông báo cho Tổng thống biết.

Các quan chức Mỹ cho biết Tổng thống Trump chỉ biết được điều này sau khi sự việc đă diễn ra. Ông Trump đă phàn nàn rằng quyết định trên phá hủy những nỗ lực nhằm đối phó với dịch bệnh của chính quyền ông.

Trang Washington Post trước đó cho biết Bộ Ngoại giao Mỹ và Trung tâm Ngăn ngừa Kiểm soát Dịch bệnh Mỹ căng thẳng với nhau về quyết định sẽ để những người Mỹ dương tính với Covid-19 chưa xuất hiện triệu chứng bệnh trở về nước cùng với các hành khách không bị bệnh.

Một quan chức Bộ Ngoại giao Mỹ phát biểu với báo giới ngày 21/2 rằng kế hoạch sơ tán công dân sẽ được thực hiện ngay sau khi có kết quả xét nghiệm từ các cơ sở y tế của Nhật Bản.

"Tôi nghĩ những người trong cuộc đă làm đúng những điều họ cần làm bởi cẩn trọng là không thừa khi sơ tán 14 người này vào khu cách ly, nơi mà họ không gây ra mối đe dọa cho chính họ hoặc cho những người khác".

"Vào cuối ngày, Bộ Ngoại giao đă đưa ra quyết định và thông báo tới các đối tác của chúng tôi rằng chúng tôi đă đưa ra quyết định đó. Đó là một quyết định mà tôi nghĩ là hợp lư khi đưa những người này trở về nước", Tiến sĩ William Walters, Giám đốc điều hành và quản lư tại cơ quan Dịch vụ Y tế thuộc Bộ Ngoại giao Mỹ cho biết.

Giới chức Mỹ hiện xác nhận ít nhất 35 trường hợp đă nhiễm Covid-19 ở nước này./.
