Tướng Lương Xuân Việt chọn tiêm vắc xin Moderna cho toàn quân


Quân đội Mỹ tại Nhật Bản dưới quyền tướng Lương Xuân Việt đã chọn vắc xin Moderna. Tướng Lương tiết lộ ông tiêm vắc xin vào ngày 11-1-2021. Moderna có công hiệu 94,1%.



Sự an toàn của cộng đồng luôn là ưu tiên hàng đầu của Thiếu tướng Việt X. Lương, Tư lệnh Lục quân Hoa Kỳ tại Nhật Bản, kể từ khi sự lây lan của virus được tuyên bố là đại dịch vào tháng 3 năm 2020.

Tướng Lương cho biết: “Dựa trên tất cả thông tin tôi có, đây là một loại vắc xin tốt và một loại vắc xin an toàn và nó sẽ sớm được cung cấp cho tất cả mọi người từ Chiến sĩ tới các thành viên trong gia đình tại đây.”

Quá trình tiêm chủng yêu cầu hai liều với liều thứ hai được tiêm sau đó 28 ngày.



Theo Trung tâm Kiểm soát và Phòng ngừa Dịch bệnh, “Việc tiêm vắc xin không những bảo vệ bản bạn mà còn bảo vệ những người xung quanh bạn, đặc biệt là những người có nguy cơ mắc bệnh nặng do COVID-19”.

“Đầu tiên và quan trọng nhất, đó là sự sẵn sàng của lực lượng”, ông Lương nói. “Với tư cách là lãnh đạo của tổ chức này, tôi nghĩ điều quan trọng là tôi có thể được tiêm chủng và đảm bảo rằng phần còn lại của lực lượng có cơ hội như vậy.”

Theo Hãng tin Reuters, Moderna cũng tự tin cho rằng công nghệ messenger RNA (mRNA) họ đã sử dụng trong bào chế vắc xin COVID-19 sẽ giúp vắc xin này có thể ngăn chặn cả biến thể corona mới đã xuất hiện ở Anh và lan ra vài chục nước thời gian qua.

Vắc xin mRNA-1273 của Moderna sử dụng mRNA tổng hợp để mô phỏng bề mặt virus corona, giúp hệ miễn dịch của con người nhận diện và vô hiệu hóa virus này.

Moderna cho biết tiến hành các thử nghiệm để khẳng định vắc xin COVID-19 của họ có khả năng chống lại mọi chủng virus corona, bao gồm cả những biến thể mới.

Khoảng thời gian có hiệu lực của vắc xin COVID-19 là vấn đề được nhiều người quan tâm. Tuy nhiên thời gian qua do phải chờ thêm những kết quả nghiên cứu và cần có thời gian đủ lâu để đánh giá hiệu quả thực tế, các nhà sản xuất vắc xin vẫn rất thận trọng khi đề cập đến vấn đề này.

Do đó, việc Moderna khẳng định hiệu lực vắc xin của họ có thể kéo dài ít nhất 1 năm là thông tin đáng chú ý.

Cũng trong hội nghị y tế ngày 11-1, Moderna cho biết công ty này dự kiến phân phối từ 600 triệu đến 1 tỉ liều vắc xin COVID-19 trong năm nay và ước tính doanh số bán liên quan tới vắc xin trong năm 2020 là 11,7 tỉ USD căn cứ vào các hợp đồng đặt mua trước đã ký với nhiều chính phủ.

COVID-19 inoculations began here Dec. 29 when the first group stepped up to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

The safety of the community has always been the top priority of Maj. Gen. Viet X. Luong, U.S. Army Japan commander, since the spread of the virus was declared a pandemic in March 2020. After the first shipment of the vaccine arrived Christmas Day, dozens of people in the health care and emergency service fields rolled up their sleeves to begin the process where Soldiers and leaders alike are getting the vaccine.

Luong and Command Sgt. Major Jerry L. Dodson Jr., USARJ command sergeant major, both stood in line with others to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Jan. 11 at Camp Zama’s Community Recreation Center.

“Based on all the information I have, it’s a good vaccine and a safe vaccine and it’s going to be available soon for all from Soldiers to civilians to family members here shortly,” said Luong.”

Military personnel stationed around the world have already joined millions of people in the United States by getting vaccinated. Vaccines have been administered for several centuries and most Americans have already received chickenpox, smallpox, MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), and annual flu shots as a matter of routine health maintenance as well other several other shots when injury or illness strikes.

The Army community in Japan has already been solidly in the fight against COVID-19 by wearing masks, washing and sanitizing their hands frequently, and practicing social distancing. As increasing waves of positive cases arise, command leadership has made trying adjustments to lifestyles in an effort to stem possible infections within our community. Getting vaccinated is seen as a welcomed relief toward the eventual end of the pandemic.

When asked if the shot was painful, Dodson enthusiastically responded saying, “Absolutely not. The flu shot I got a couple months ago, I felt it more than I did this shot.”

The vaccination process requires two doses with the second dose being given 28 days later.

Getting the shot isn’t just for individual health and peace of mind, but is also for respect of others. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Getting vaccinated yourself may also protect people around you, particularly people at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.”

“First and foremost, it’s the readiness of the force,” Luong stated. “As a leader of this organization, I think it is important for me to be able to be vaccinated and to ensure that the rest of the force has the opportunity to do so.”

When you are notified of your opportunity to roll up your sleeve and be vaccinated, this is your part in helping beat this mortal virus.

“I think people are getting COVID fatigue and this in one way for them to get back to [some type of] normalcy,” Dodson added.
