Vào hôm qua thứ Tư, Tổng Thống Trump công khai ủng hộ cho nhóm với danh hiệu ‘Proud Boys’ th́ ngày hôm nay ông tuyên bố rằng ông ấy không biết nhóm cực hữu hoặc tại sao họ ăn mặc như họ học ở trường tư thục (a private school).


Phiên bản giả vờ khờ của Trump, xuất hiện chỉ sau một ngày sau khi yêu cầu họ “đứng lùi lại và chờ đợi” (stand back and stand by), đối với những người đang theo dơi, th́ lời nói đó không phải là sự lên án tới nhóm ‘thượng đẳng da trắng’ (white supremacy).


Tờ báo Axios lưu ư rằng những b́nh luận mà tổng thống đưa ra trong cuộc tranh luận hôm tối thứ Ba đă bị người đảng Dân Chủ lên án và người đảng Cộng ḥa yêu cầu tổng thống làm rơ tuyên bố của ông v́ họ cần thêm bằng chứng trước khi có thể gọi ông là kẻ phân biệt chủng tộc chuyên lừa đảo. Ba năm qua, đảng Cộng ḥa "rất quan ngại" (thượng nghị sĩ CH của tiểu bang Maine, bà Susan Collins nói).


“Tôi không biết Proud Boys là những ai. Bạn sẽ phải cung cấp cho tôi biết một định nghĩa của nhóm đó v́ tôi thực sự không biết họ là ai,” Trump (nói dối th́ đúng hơn) nói, Axios báo cáo.


“Tôi chỉ có thể bảo họ phải lùi bước xuống và để cơ quan thực thi pháp luật làm việc của họ. ... Khi mọi người thấy phong trào Đảng Dân chủ tự do cấp tiến này tệ đến mức nào và lực lượng cảnh sác yếu thế nào, th́ việc thực thi pháp luật sẽ phải trở lại ngày càng mạnh mẽ hơn. Nhưng một lần nữa, tôi không biết Proud Boys là ai, nhưng dù họ là ai th́ họ cũng phải lùi xuống và để lực lượng thực thi công việc của họ ”.


Trump lại tuyên bố rằng lời ông nói "đứng chực chờ" (stand by) của ông chỉ đơn thuần yêu cầu Proud Boys lùi lại và cho phép cơ quan thực thi pháp luật đánh đập những người biểu t́nh ôn ḥa.


“Chỉ chực chờ. Hăy để cơ quan thực thi pháp luật sẽ làm công việc của họ. Th́ họ (Proud Boys) sẽ đứng lùi xuống, họ phải đứng xuống. Mọi người. Dù bạn đang nói về nhóm nào đi nữa, hăy để cơ quan chức năng thực thi pháp luật, thực hiện công việc. Hiện nay, antifa là một vấn đề rắc rối thực sự. V́ vấn đề nằm ở phía cánh trái. Và Biden th́ lại từ chối nói về nó. " Trump nói.


Trump giống như một dĩa thu thanh bị vỡ cứ nhạy đi nhạy lại những thứ cũ rít “Antifa này. Antifa nọ. Antifa kia”. Đă nghe quá đủ rồi.
