(New York Times) — Một số ít thượng nghị sĩ Cộng hoà t́m cách cản Tổng thống sa thải Đại sứ Mỹ tại EU Gordon Sondland – nhân chứng ra khai trong cuộc điều tra luận tội của Hạ viện, nhưng ông Trump vẫn cho nhà ngoại giao này “lên đường.”


Các thượng nghị sĩ lo ngại việc sa thải ông Sondland không hay ǵ cho ông Trump. Họ cho rằng, chuyện này không cần thiết v́ Đại sứ cũng đă thông báo với cấp trên sẽ nghỉ việc sau phiên xét xử luận tội Tổng thống. Số nhà lập pháp Cộng hoà này bảo với các viên chức Toà Bạch Ốc, ông Sondland nên được phép tự rời nhiệm sở, như vậy sẽ giảm được những chỉ trích chính trị.

Nhưng Trump rơ ràng không quan tâm tới việc để Sondland lặng lẽ rút lui, thay vào đó chọn cách gởi ra thông điệp bằng việc sa thải ông ta trước. Khi Bộ Ngoại giao vào hôm thứ Sáu yêu cầu Sondland từ chức ngay lập tức trong hôm đó, th́ ông ta phản đối với lư do không muốn nằm trong một cuộc thanh trừng các nhân chứng luận tội, theo các nguồn tin được thông báo về vấn đề này.

Sondland chuyển ư tới các viên chức Ngoại giao rằng, nếu họ muốn ông ta đi trong hôm đó, họ phải sa thải ông ta. Và Tổng thống đă làm như vậy, ra chỉ thị băi nhiệm Đại sứ ngay lập tức.

Sondland bị sa thải chỉ vài giờ sau khi một nhân chứng luận tội khác, Trung tá Lục quân Alexander Vindman và người em song sinh, Trung tá Lục quân Yevgeny Vindman, bị nhân viên an ninh hộ tống ra khỏi Toà Bạch Ốc.

Diễn biến này xảy ra chưa đầy hai ngày sau khi Thượng viện do Cộng hoà kiểm soát tha bổng ông Trump hai điều khoản luận tội lạm quyền và cản trở Quốc hội liên quan đến nỗ lực gây áp lực buộc Ukraine điều tra đối thủ chính trị. Dân chủ gọi những sa thải này là “thảm sát tối thứ Sáu” được nhắm vào trả thù các viên chức chính phủ đă ra khai những ǵ họ biết sau khi nhận được trát đ̣i từ cuộc điều tra luận tội của Hạ viện.

Trong số các nhà lập pháp Cộng hoà cảnh báo Toà Bạch Ốc có Thượng nghị sĩ Susan Collins (Maine) – người sau khi bỏ phiếu tha bổng Trump đă bày tỏ, bà nghĩ tổng thống đă học được bài học. Bên cạnh Collins c̣n có Thượng nghị sĩ Thom Tillis (North Carolina), Martha McSally (Arizona) và Ron Johnson (Wisconsin). Toà Bạch Ốc vào thứ Bảy chưa đưa ra lời b́nh luận nhưng một viên chức cao cấp xác nhận các thượng nghị sĩ Cộng hoà có liên lạc. Họ đă liên lạc với Tạm quyền Đổng lư Mick Mulvaney, và Eric Ueland – Giám đốc các vấn đề về lập pháp – để bày tỏ sự phản đối.

Các thượng nghị sĩ Cộng hoà không bày tỏ lo ngại như vậy về Trung tá Vindman, người nhận được ít thông cảm từ đồng minh của ông Trump.

Cộng hoà xem một số tuyên bố của Vindman trong phiên điều trần mang tính chính trị quá rơ ràng, và họ tin rằng ông không thể tiếp tục làm việc cho tổng thống sau khi công khai chê trách.

Nếu tụi nó biết suy nghỉ trước th́ hay...nếu không th́ chết chùm vào tháng 11.C̣n giai đọan có sự xuất hiện của Bloomberg..sẽ có khô máu ...mặc sức mà vui.
