Đây là một động thái chưa từng có trong lịch sử, khi mà một vị Tổng thống sẽ ra lệnh cho Quốc hội bằng tài khoản mạng xă hội của ḿnh.

Mới đây, Tổng thống Donald Trump đă yêu cầu Quốc hội phải theo dơi tài khoản Twitter của ông, để cập nhật những điều lệnh và hành động mới trong chiến sự tại Iran. Đây là một động thái chưa từng có trong lịch sử, khi mà một vị Tổng thống sẽ ra lệnh cho Quốc hội bằng tài khoản mạng xă hội của ḿnh.

Ông Trump từ lâu đă sử dụng Twitter để đưa ra những thông báo, thậm chí là những mệnh lệnh đầy bất ngờ. Năm 2018, vị tổng thống này đă sa thải Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Rex Tillerson bằng một ḍng tweet. Các cơ quan liên bang c̣n phải đấu tranh xem xét việc sử dụng mạng xă hội Twitter của ông Trump, và cũng tự hỏi rằng liệu có nên coi những tuyên bố của ông trên Twitter là một chính sách chính thức của Chính phủ hay không.

T́nh h́nh chiến sự tại Iran cũng đang ngày càng trở nên căng thẳng, khi mới đây ông Trump đă đăng tải trên trang Twitter của ḿnh việc đe dọa sẽ phá hủy 52 mục tiêu của Iran. Giáo sư Oona Hathaway tại Đại học Luật Yale cho rằng Tổng thống Donald Trump có thể vi phạm hiến pháp, nếu ra lệnh cho Quốc hội chỉ bằng những ḍng tweet trên mạng xă hội.

Trong khi đó, Twitter không có bất kỳ động thái nào can thiệp vào những nội dung mà Tổng thống đăng tải. Hồi tháng 1 năm 2018, Twitter tuyên bố rằng việc chặn một nhà lănh đạo thế giới khỏi nền tảng mạng xă hội này, hoặc xóa những tweet gây tranh căi là hành động che giấu thông tin quan trọng và sẽ không làm như vậy.
