WASHINGTON (BLOOMBERG) - US President Donald Trump said he would stop using the term "Chinese virus", the latest indication that the United States and China are seeking to de-escalate their blame game over the deadly pandemic.

"I don't regret it, but they accused us of having done it through our soldiers, they said our soldiers did it on purpose, what kind of a thing is that?" Mr Trump said in an interview on Tuesday (March 25) with Fox News.

"Look, everyone knows it came out of China, but I decided we shouldn't make any more of a big deal out of it. I think I made a big deal. I think people understand it. But that all began when they said our soldiers started it. Our soldiers had nothing to do with it."...

Tổng thống Donald Trump tuyên bố ông sẽ dừng gọi virus corona mới (SARS-CoV-2) là “virus Trung Quốc” sau vài tuần Mỹ – Trung “khẩu chiến” căng thẳng v́ mầm bệnh gây chết người.

“Tôi không hối tiếc v́ việc đó (cách gọi virus Trung Quốc), nhưng họ (Trung Quốc) đă cáo buộc Mỹ làm điều đó thông qua các quân nhân, họ nói các quân nhân của chúng ta cố t́nh làm vậy (mang virus tới Trung Quốc). Điều đó có nghĩa là sao?”, ông Trump trả lời phỏng vấn Fox News ngày 25/3.

“Mọi người đều biết nó (virus SARS-CoV-2) xuất phát từ Trung Quốc, nhưng tôi quyết định chúng ta không nên làm lớn chuyện thêm nữa. Tôi nghĩ tôi đă làm lớn chuyện. Tôi nghĩ mọi người đều hiểu. Nhưng tất cả mọi thứ bắt nguồn khi họ cáo buộc các quân nhân Mỹ bắt đầu nó. Các quân nhân của chúng ta không làm ǵ liên quan tới cáo buộc đó”, ông Trump giải thích.

“Người ta đặt tên virus dựa vào địa điểm, và virus (SARS-CoV-2) đến từ Trung Quốc”, ông Trump nói, viện dẫn cách đặt tên virus Ebola và Lyme cũng như một số mầm bệnh đều được đặt tên dựa vào nơi phát hiện ra chúng.

Ông Trump cho biết ông đă duy tŕ mối quan hệ “rất tốt” với Chủ tịch Trung Quốc Tập Cận B́nh và quốc gia Đông Á đă trải qua nhiều khó khăn.

“Họ mất hàng ngh́n người. Họ đă phải trải qua khó khăn”, ông Trump nói.

Tuyên bố của ông Trump đến trong bối cảnh Mỹ và Trung Quốc trước đó đă “khẩu chiến” v́ Covid-19.

Hôm 11/3, Cố vấn An ninh Quốc gia Mỹ Robert O’Brien cho rằng Trung Quốc phản ứng chậm trễ và không minh bạch khi dịch Covid-19 bùng phát tại Vũ Hán cuối năm ngoái. Dịch bệnh lúc này đă lây lan ra toàn cầu và khiến hơn 420.000 người nhiễm virus, cũng như gần 19.000 người thiệt mạng.

Đáp lại chỉ trích trên, người phát ngôn Bộ Ngoại giao Trung Quốc Zhao Lijian viết trên tài khoản Twitter ngày 12/3 về một giả thuyết cho rằng dịch Covid-19 do virus corona mới gây ra bắt nguồn từ Mỹ mà không phải từ một chợ hải sản ở thành phố Vũ Hán, Hồ Bắc.

Ngay sau đó, Mỹ đă triệu tập đại sứ Trung Quốc tại Mỹ Thôi Thiên Khải để phản đối.

Hôm 18/3, ông Trump tuyên bố không có ǵ sai khi ông gọi virus corona mới là “virus Trung Quốc”. Phía Bắc Kinh nhiều lần tỏ ra giận dữ khi ông Trump và một số quan chức của Mỹ dùng cụm từ nói trên hay “virus Vũ Hán” đề cập đến dịch Covid-19.

Hiện Mỹ đă có gần 690 người chết và hơn 53.260 người bị mắc Covid-19 tại 50 tiểu bang.

Nếu tui nh́n kỹ th́ hướng đi của con Corona này h́nh như ngoài biển.
