Four more years? Trump struggles to outline second term plan


Tổng thống Donald Trump tuyên bố rằng ông muốn có thêm bốn năm nữa trong Ṭa Bạch Ốc nhưng không biết rơ sẽ làm ǵ.

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump is adamant that he wants another four years in office. It’s less clear what he would do with them.

The Republican president repeatedly assailed Democratic rival Joe Biden during a rambling, hourlong Rose Garden news conference Tuesday that doubled as a reelection rally. But he offered few clues about what he would do if he remains in the White House. He similarly stammered through an interview last month when pressed by a friendly TV host to talk about what a second term would look like.

With the election less than four months away, Trump’s focus is more on winning than on how he would govern. He’s offered no substantive policy proposal, opting instead for heated rhetoric on race, crime and socialism aimed at his most loyal supporters. Biden, meanwhile, is releasing a growing number of proposals touching on topics including trade and climate change.

Tổng thống đảng Cộng ḥa liên tục tấn công đối thủ từ đảng Dân chủ Joe Biden trong cuộc họp báo dông dài ở Vườn Hồng vào thứ Ba đă tăng gấp đôi như một cuộc vận động tái tranh cử. Tuy nhiên Trump chỉ đưa ra một vài manh mối về những ǵ ông sẽ thực thi nếu tiếp tục đảm nhiệm công việc tại ở Nhà Trắng. Trump không hề đưa ra một đề xuất chính sách thực tế nào, thay vào đó lại chọn những hùng biện gay gắt về chủng tộc, tội phạm và chủ nghĩa xă hội để nhắm vào những người ủng hộ trung thành nhất của Trump. Trong khi đó, Biden đang phát hành một loạt các đề xuất liên quan đến nhiều chủ đề bao gồm thương mại và biến đổi khí hậu.

Trump đang định h́nh lại chiến dịch của ḿnh, thông báo hôm thứ Tư rằng đặc vụ kỳ cựu từ Đảng Cộng ḥa Bill Stepien sẽ thay thế ông Brad Parscale làm người quản lư uỷ ban tranh cử. Nhưng hành động này chưa chắc sẽ thay đổi việc Trump ưu tiên tập trung vào thông điệp nhiều hơn là chương tŕnh nghị sự chính sách cụ thể.

Một số đảng viên Cộng ḥa nói điều đó phản ánh lên những thách thức trong việc thỉnh cầu cử tri tín nhiệm thêm một nhiệm kỳ trong lúc đất nước đang đối mặt với bối cảnh khủng hoảng kinh tế và sức khỏe cộng đồng chồng cùng một lúc.
