Các cơ quan t́nh báo Mỹ đă đưa ra cảnh báo từ tháng 1 và tháng 2 năm nay về một mối đe dọa toàn cầu gây ra bởi virus corona, khiến nhiều quan chức thân cận của ông Trump đă cố gắng thuyết phục tổng thống về mức độ nghiêm trọng của virus nhưng "bất lực" v́ bị tổng thống Trump xem nhẹ đại dịch này.

Theo Washington Post, các cơ quan t́nh báo Mỹ đă đưa ra cảnh báo từ tháng 1 và tháng 2 năm nay về một mối đe dọa toàn cầu gây ra bởi virus corona trong khi tổng thống Trump và các nhà lập pháp xem nhẹ đại dịch này và không có những động thái cần thiết để ngăn chặn sự lây lan của bệnh dịch.

Báo cáo của t́nh báo Mỹ không dự đoán khi nào virus sẽ xuất hiện ở Mỹ hay đưa ra những bước cụ thể mà cơ quan y tế nên áp dụng. Tuy nhiên, các cơ quan này đă theo dơi sự lây lan của virus ở Trung Quốc, và sau đó ở quốc gia khác, cảnh báo rằng có thể phía Trung Quốc dường như đang không cung cấp thông tin về mức độ nghiêm trọng thật sự của dịch bệnh.

Những cảnh báo sớm này đă phác họa một bức tranh sớm về một đại dịch toàn cầu và buộc chính phủ các nước phải hành động nhanh để kiểm soát. Tuy nhiên, mặc cho hàng loạt các báo cáo hàng ngày, ông Trump vẫn công khai hạ thấp mức độ nguy hiểm của virus corona đối với người Mỹ.

Những nhà lập pháp Mỹ cũng không mấy để tâm tới loại virus này cho tới đầu tháng 3. Những ngày gần đây, quan chức Mỹ đă yêu cầu người dân ở nhà và cảnh báo bệnh viện cần phải chuẩn bị sẵn sàng để đối phó với dịch COVID-19.

Một quan chức Mỹ đề nghị giấu tên cho biết các cơ quan t́nh báo đă cảnh báo về virus corona từ đầu tháng 1. Người này nói: "Ông Donald Trump có thể không ngờ về đại dịch, nhưng nhiều người trong chính phủ th́ có, và họ không thể nào khuyên được ông ấy. Cả hệ thống đang báo động đỏ".

CIA và Văn pḥng Giám đốc Cơ quan T́nh báo Quốc gia Mỹ từ chối b́nh luận về bài viết của Washington Post.

Theo CNN, nhiều quan chức thân cận của ông Trump đă cố gắng thuyết phục tổng thống về mức độ nghiêm trọng của virus nhưng "bất lực".

Tới tận ngày 18/1, Bộ trưởng Y tế và Dịch vụ Nhân sinh Mỹ Alex Azar mới có thể bàn luận vấn đề về viurs corona với ông Trump. Khi đó, ông Trump ngắt lời ông Azar để hỏi về thời điểm bán tiếp các mặt hàng thuốc lá điện tử.

Cuối tháng 1, một số quan chức Mỹ tiếp tục đề xuất các cấp cao hơn đề pḥng trước virus corona và cảnh báo rằng nếu Nhà Trắng không xử lí vấn đề COVID-19 một cách nghiêm túc, ông Trump có thể sẽ không thể tái đắc cử.

Nguồn tin của Washington Post cho biết, vào thời điểm đó ông Trump không quá coi trọng chuyện về virus corona bởi ông nghĩ loại virus này sẽ không thể lây lan rộng ở Mỹ. Ngoài ra, tờ này cho rằng có thể ông Trump đă "quá tin tưởng" thông tin từ phía ông Tập Cận B́nh.

Một số quan chức cho biết thậm chí kể cả sau khi các cố vấn của ông Trump khẳng định rằng Trung Quốc đang cung cấp số liệu không chính xác về ca nhiễm và tử vong do COVID-19, ông Trump vẫn công khia ca ngợi cách Trung Quốc xử lí dịch vào cuối tháng 1.

Trong cuộc họp hồi tháng 2, ông Trump cho rằng nếu gây ra nhiều áp lực hơn với ông Tập, Bắc Kinh sẽ không chia sẻ cách đối phó với dịch bệnh.

Có nhiều tin tức t́nh báo của TTTT và Obama báo cáo cho Trump! Nhưng dịch chinaVirus đă phát ra hồi cuối tháng 11/19 phải đợi đến tháng 1 và tháng 2/2020 trở đi mới báo lên, ông cố nội thằng Tập đỡ cũng không nổi nữa.
