Sau khi Thượng viện Mỹ bỏ phiếu tha bổng Tổng thống Trump trong phiên tòa xem xét bãi nhiệm, khiến bà Hillary Clinton lên tiếng chỉ trích đến 52 thượng nghị sĩ đảng Cộng hòa phản bội lời thề bảo vệ Hiến pháp Mỹ.

"Khi bắt đầu phiên tòa xem xét bãi nhiệm Tổng thống, các thượng nghị sĩ đảng Cộng hòa tuyên thệ bảo vệ Hiến pháp. 52 người trong số họ bỏ phiếu phản bội lời thề đó, phản bội tất cả chúng ta", cựu ngoại trưởng Mỹ Hillary Clinton đăng Twitter hôm nay.

Bình luận được bà Clinton đưa ra sau khi các thành viên đảng Cộng hòa chiếm đa số tại Thượng viện Mỹ bỏ phiếu chống lại hai điều khoản xem xét bãi nhiệm Tổng thống Donald Trump. Với kết quả này, đảng Dân chủ đã thất bại trong nỗ lực phế truất Trump sau khi cáo buộc ông lạm quyền và cản trở quốc hội.

"Chúng ta đang đi vào khu vực nguy hiểm với nền dân chủ Mỹ. Tất cả chúng ta sẽ cùng nhau nỗ lực để khôi phục nền dân chủ", bà Clinton viết thêm.

Cựu ngoại trưởng Mỹ thất bại trước Trump trong cuộc bầu cử tổng thống năm 2016. Bà có số phiếu phổ thông cao hơn Trump, nhưng lại thua về phiếu đại cử tri.

Bà Clinton đầu năm ngoái tuyên bố không tái tranh cử tổng thống, nhưng vẫn sẽ "tiếp tục làm việc, phát biểu và đứng lên bảo vệ những điều mình tin tưởng". Trump sau đó mỉa mai quyết định này khi nói rằng ông "sẽ nhớ bà rất nhiều" nếu không được đối đầu một lần nữa.

Tôi không bênh vực cho bà ta, hay cho đảng nào cả.
