Do khí hậu lạnh đột ngột khiến ít nhất 18 con cá sấu bị đóng băng tại một đầm lầy ở bang Bắc Carolina – Mỹ vào tuần này. Quản lư công viên The Swamp Park, George Howard, cho biết 18 con cá sấu bị đóng băng từ tối 21-1 và cả ngày 22-1 (giờ địa phương) nhưng chúng đă kịp chĩa mũi lên trời.

Dường như chúng cảm nhận được nước trong đầm lầy sắp chạm tới điểm đóng băng nên tḥ mũi lên khỏi mặt băng "đúng lúc". Cá sấu được biết đến là loài động vật máu lạnh và có thể tự điều chỉnh nhiệt độ của cơ thể.

Thông thường, khi nhiệt độ nước hoặc không khí xuống quá thấp, các loài ḅ sát máu lạnh sẽ rơi vào trạng thái "brumation" giống như ngủ đông.

Hiện tượng tương tự xảy ra vào mùa đông năm ngoái khi nhiều con cá sấu tại công viên và khu bảo tồn rộng 26 ha này bị đóng băng với cái mũi ở trong không khí.

Chúng sẽ được "ră đông" trong ṿng vài ngày và không xuất hiện thương tổn rơ ràng do bị đóng băng sâu. Các chuyên gia nói rằng bản năng cho cá sấu biết khi nào nước sắp đóng băng, v́ vậy chúng tḥ mũi ra đúng lúc để thở.

Cá sấu c̣n chịu được nhiệt độ thấp và nín thở dưới nước từ 1-24 giờ.

bs098 nhận ra được hàm răng vẫu đúng là hay thật. Đặc điểm dễ nhận dạng của vẹm. Đứng cạnh cá Sấu vẫn không dấu được hàm răng.
