Phó trợ lư Ngoại trưởng Mỹ cho biết sẽ hỗ trợ Việt Nam nâng cao năng lực hàng hải. Ông nhấn mạnh, việc nâng cao năng lực hàng hải cho Việt Nam có vai tṛ quan trọng cho an ninh khu vực.

"Việt Nam hiện có một tàu cảnh sát biển do Mỹ cung cấp. Chúng tôi sẽ tăng cường nỗ lực để nâng cao năng lực hàng hải của Việt Nam. Điều đó rất quan trọng với Việt Nam nói riêng và khu vực nói chung. Họ có thể đóng góp nhiều cho khu vực", W. Patrick Murphy, phó trợ lư Ngoại trưởng Mỹ về các vấn đề Đông Á và Thái B́nh Dương, nói trong cuộc trao đổi với các phóng viên Mỹ và châu Á qua điện thoại ngày 22/3.

Mỹ hồi tháng 5/2017 bàn giao tàu tuần duyên tải trọng cao USCGC Morgenthau cho Cảnh sát biển Việt Nam qua Chương tŕnh bán trang bị quốc pḥng dư thừa (EDA). Sau khi được biên chế vào Cảnh sát biển Việt Nam, tàu được đổi tên thành CSB 8020.

Đề cập đến việc năm sau Việt - Mỹ sẽ kỷ niệm 25 năm b́nh thường quan hệ ngoại giao và Việt Nam sẽ là chủ tịch ASEAN, ông Murphy cho biết Mỹ mong muốn "được làm việc chặt chẽ với Việt Nam về quan hệ song phương và các vấn đề khu vực".

Quan chức này khẳng định Mỹ sẽ tiếp tục hoạt động tự do hàng hải ở Biển Đông, nhấn mạnh tất cả quốc gia trên thế giới đều có lợi ích khi giao thông và thương mại ở các tuyến đường biển không bị cản trở.

Dưới thời Tổng thống Trump, hải quân Mỹ thường xuyên tiến hành các chiến dịch tuần tra tự do hàng hải ở Biển Đông, áp sát các đảo nhân tạo Trung Quốc bồi đáp phi pháp ở quần đảo Trường Sa thuộc chủ quyền của Việt Nam. Không quân Mỹ trong tháng ba đă hai lần triển khai oanh tạc cơ B-52 thực hiện quyền tự do hàng không trên Biển Đông.

"Chúng tôi sẽ tiếp tục di chuyển trên không, trên biển và hoạt động ở bất cứ nơi nào luật pháp quốc tế được áp dụng", Murphy tuyên bố.

Ông khẳng định khu vực Ấn Độ Dương - Thái B́nh Dương là ưu tiên hàng đầu của chính phủ Mỹ. "Các bên có nhiều tầm nh́n riêng trong khu vực và chúng tôi hoan nghênh điều đó. Chúng tôi cảm thấy được khích lệ khi điểm chung của các tầm nh́n này là một Ấn Độ Dương - Thái B́nh Dương tự do, cởi mở và tuân thủ luật lệ", ông nói.

Note: chúng ta đừng quên là Trump giờ đang nịnh bợ Tàu qua việc rút lại các biện pháp trừng trị 2 hăng kinh doanh hàng hải Tàu dù Bộ Tài chính đă bổ túc...danh chính ngôn thuận th́ uưnh Ủn, nhưng lại nương tay với Tàu..what the hell, ZTE still thanks u Mr. Useful Idiot ! Shame on u !

Ḿnh đề nghị, khi VC độp xong Mỹ, đổi tên "Washington D.C." ra "Thành Phố Lê Duẩn" nghe sướng hơn, khỏi trùng tên, khỏi vàng thau lẫn lộn.... Hehehehe....
