Đêm thứ ba của đại hội đảng Dân chủ, mọi sự chú ư sẽ dồn về diễn văn chấp nhận đề cử phó tổng thống của bà Kamala Harris, và sự xuất hiện của cựu tổng thống Barack Obama.

Buổi thứ ba của đại hội sẽ tiếp tục được phát trên Internet và các kênh ở Mỹ từ 21h-23h (giờ Washington), tức 8h-10h ngày 20/8 (giờ Việt Nam). Ông Obama sẽ phát biểu vào 22h, và một số thông tin đă được hé lộ trước về bài phát biểu của ông.

Các trọng tâm của bài phát biểu sẽ bao gồm việc chỉ trích Tổng thống Trump và nỗ lực của đảng Cộng ḥa nhằm gây khó cho việc bỏ phiếu qua thư.

Người phát ngôn của ông Obama, Katie Hill, cho biết: “(Cựu) tổng thống Obama sẽ nêu lên những động thái mờ ám của chính quyền và đảng Cộng ḥa nhằm gây khó cho người Mỹ muốn bỏ phiếu. Ông sẽ đi thẳng vào mối nguy mà bản thân nền dân chủ đang gặp phải, và cơ hội để tạo ra nền dân chủ tốt hơn”.

Ông Obama sẽ nói v́ sao ông nghĩ cựu phó tổng thống dưới quyền ḿnh, Joe Biden, có “kinh nghiệm và nhân cách” để lănh đạo nước Mỹ trong thời khắc khủng hoảng, theo Guardian.

“Giờ đây vai tṛ của Tổng thống Obama chủ yếu là nhắc người Mỹ nhớ lại về một chính quyền ổn định và chu đáo trông như thế nào”, Hạ nghị sĩ John Yarmuth, đảng Dân chủ, bang Kentucky, nhận định.

Nhiều khả năng ông Trump sẽ lại công kích người tiền nhiệm của ḿnh sau bài phát biểu, cũng như ông đă công kích bà Michelle Obama, theo Guardian.

Trong suốt nhiệm kỳ đầu của ông Trump, ông Obama thường cố tránh phê phán trực tiếp tổng thống đương nhiệm, thay vào đó muốn thể hiện giọng điệu hy vọng và khao khát những điều tốt hơn.
