Quân đội VN lại được đánh giá cao ở thêm một chỉ tiêu nữa! Đó là dàn pháo binh! Thậm chí đứng đầu Đông Nam Á và trên cả Mỹ. Theo đánh giá của Global Firepower, trang này đă công bố bảng thống kê sức mạnh pháo binh của các nước trên thế giới và khá ngạc nhiên khi Việt Nam đang là một trong những quốc gia dẫn đầu danh sách này.

Với 2.200 khẩu pháo xe kéo các loại đang có trong biên chế, Quân đội Nhân dân Việt Nam hiện đứng vị trí thứ 8 trên thế giới, thứ 6 châu Á và dẫn đầu Đông Nam Á. Trong đó, các quốc gia xếp trên Việt Nam có thứ tự là: Ấn Độ: 7.414 khẩu, Trung Quốc: 6.246 khẩu, Hàn Quốc: 5.374 khẩu, Nga: 4.625 khẩu, Triều Tiên: 4.300 khẩu, Pakistan: 3.278 khẩu và Ai Cập: 2.360 khẩu.

Đặc biệt, theo danh sách này, cường quốc quân sự số 1 thế giới hiện nay, Quân đội Mỹ chỉ duy tŕ 1.299 khẩu pháo xe kéo và xếp hạng 12 thế giới.


Pháo ṇng dài M46 cỡ 130 mm của Việt Nam

Có thể lư giải điều này bởi v́ khoa học quân sự ngày càng phát triển, các cường quốc đă dần dần chuyển bớt vai tṛ của pháo binh sang không quân và các tên lửa chiến thuật có tính cơ động cao, sức công phá mạnh và đa năng trong nhiều trường hợp, do đó số lượng pháo xe kéo giảm dần, chỉ c̣n những trọng pháo hỏa lực mạnh yểm trợ cho bộ binh như M777.

Đối với Việt Nam, trải qua một thời kỳ dài chiến tranh gian khổ cùng với những chiến lợi phẩm thu được, lượng pháo xe kéo đă được tích góp tới một con số khổng lồ, tuy nhiên để phù hợp hơn với chiến tranh hiện đại, Quân đội Nhân dân Việt Nam cần thiết phải tập trung đầu tư hơn nữa về chất lượng để có thể ứng phó được những những vũ khí công nghệ cao.

Hiện nay, trong các loại pháo của Pháo binh Việt Nam, uy lực nhất là khẩu M46 cỡ ṇng 130mm. Đây là loại pháo ṇng dài bắn xa đến 27km và bắn rất nhanh, tốc độ trung b́nh 8 phát/phút. Pháo bắn được nhiều loại đạn: đạn phá mảnh, đạn xuyên giáp, đạn khói, đạn chiếu sáng, đạn hóa học…

Xếp sau pháo 130mm là các khẩu 152mm và 122mm. Trong 2 cỡ ṇng này, quân đội Việt Nam có cả pháo xe kéo và pháo tự hành. Loại pháo xe kéo có D-20 152mm và D-30 122mm. Loại pháo tự hành 152mm gọi là 2S3 c̣n loại 122mm có tên là 2S1.

Ngoài ra, Việt Nam vẫn c̣n sử dụng hoặc niêm cất bảo quản nhiều chủng loại mà thế giới đă cho nghỉ hưu từ lâu, ví dụ như pháo chống tăng ZIS-2 cỡ 57 mm hay pháo mặt đất ZIS-3 cỡ 76,2 mm...

Với số lượng khổng lồ, Pháo binh trong chiến thuật của quân đội ta là lực lượng chi viện hỏa lực chính của chiến trường. Pháo bắn mở đầu trận tiến công cứ điểm địch, pháo chế áp trận địa pháo địch, pháo bắn chi viện bộ binh trong pḥng ngự…

Ngoài ra, trang Global Firepower c̣n thống kê cả số lượng pháo tự hành (SPG) và pháo phản lực phóng loạt (MLRS). Với 2 loại pháo này, Việt Nam vẫn giữ vững ngôi vị số 1 châu Á với 1.100 hệ thống pháo phản lực phóng loạt và 524 khẩu pháo tự hành.
